Back to normal? Breaking down Clemson’s 2021 football schedule
With the release of the ACC football schedule, it feels we’ve turned the page on a weird 2020 season, and can really look forward to what will hopefully be a very normal 2021 football season. It's too early to tell if there's going to be a crowd at the Georgia game. If the COVID vaccine rollout doesn't get moving we may see a limited number of fans just like this past season. Hard to predict when attendance at football games will return to normal.

I believe that once the 65+ age groups and the people with existing medical conditions are vaccinated, the rates of deaths and hospitalizations will drop back to normal. People may still get infected, but if the effect is they have to stay home sick, things will return to normal. You can see that in Israel already. They've got 1/3 of their population inoculated. Their infection rate is still quite high, but very few are dying. We're through 50% of the 70+ community here in Colorado, and starting on the 65+ next week. Of course, I've always been too optimistic about this pandemic from the start.

I'm 68 with type 2 diabetes, and high blood pressure, and while doing a search just yesterday for when I could get the vaccine here in SC, the only thing I've found for the 1c group has been for late spring!!!

Wow! That is terrible. Hope you can find a vaccine sooner. I'm a university professor occasionally, so my group is supposed to open up in early March.

There is a huge Vaccination center here in Greenville(site of the old K-mart near GMH) You'd have to register online though....
There are lines out there every morning...

I know what you're saying, but I live in cootlumbia, and for me to drive to Greenville, then wait in a line with the condition that my back has gotten over the years since my injury, I couldn't in any way shape or form be able to deal with standing in a line for more than about 20-30 minutes before I would be crying in so much pain, that my wife would have to push me away from there in a wheelchair, and that is how bad the muscle spasms will get when I'm on my feet for more than 20-30 minutes at one time. And there are time that I'll never reach 20 minutes before the spasm pain is way more than I can stand....

I thought you could get the vaccine if you have a health condition? The prisma vaccine center near the Willy B on national guard road is pretty well run. Took my mom for her first shot last week and was in and out in 30 min

Hang in there AIAOATT, the Gov is working on changing the cutoff to 65. As long as our vaccine supply holds steady you may be able to move to an earlier slot.

one time shot is a game changer..easier to ship because it doesnt have to be put at a very low temp ..by september we will be at or very near normal

I think people underestimate how much that hurt college football in 2020.
I mean, I really don't think in a normal year Oklahoma is a 2-loss team, Penn State is a 5-loss team, etc.
We especially need it given our big opening game.
And as others have mentioned, we need fans in the seats. We may get the practice, but I seriously doubt the stadia will be packed with fans.

I agree that it would be really good to get a full spring practice in. Fortunately, a full season worth of experience dealing with this makes it seem like the schools are going to be able to handle that, even if the Spring Games aren't back to normal yet.
Here's to hoping we're back to normal, or close to it, by Labor Day!

Look no further than our elite QBs over the years and see who has performed well vs. not-so-well in the spring game and we see how valuable it is to be able to evaluate a QB when they are facing a real game situation. There was some talk early in the season in 2020 when everything was uncertain about possibly scheduling the small school games in the spring, to make it even more real. So for us that would be playing The Citadel or Wofford or Furman, etc. They get their paycheck, we get a better look at who can do what.

Thanks for posting the article. Like everyone else, I really hope we can get back to a normal football season. Hopefully the lessons learned over the last year will help make that happen.
Regarding the article itself, as a Georgia fan, I'd kinda like to see a more in-depth breakdown of the schedule - particularly our game from the Clemson perspective. And by that I mean some actual football discussion - not the simple "oh we're gonna b!+@# slap those drooling mouth breathers" nonsense. Yeah, we looked better with JT and your defense could be dominant, but what from the Clemson side do you see as your strengths and weaknesses as well as what do you see as our strengths and weaknesses. Matchup to matchup, what do you see as something you can exploit against us, as well as what you have to guard against us potentially exploiting against y'all.

We'll have a ton of content leading up to that game I'm sure. It's early now, but I wonder if our OL will make major improvements in time for Georgia, which will present an extreme challenge there because year in and year out that defense is excellent.
I'm not totally sold on Georgia's offense, but I've got a lot more research to do on that front before I make any sort of bold prediction.

You're right, there's a while to go, and a lot can and probably will happen between now and Sept.
I think you're on target regarding your OL. I think your running game against our defense will be one of the matchups to watch. Just as your WRs against our DBs will be. When we have the ball, a lot will depend on how much JT is on target. If he's not crisp with his throws, we could be in trouble; but if he is, it could be pretty interesting. And our running game vs your DL should be a war.

Georgia should be strong on offense, especially the running game. Clemsons defense should be solid and deep, but we were porous against Ohio states running attack and struggled in pass D several times. Georgia loses some defenders and I expect Clemsons offense to be strong if we stay healthy at the oline and wr positions. I think it adds up to a 3-7 point win for Clemson but either way a playoff rematch could be in the cards

Pittsburgh is a cool city. The stadium (same stadium The Steelers play in) is at the intersection of three rivers, EZ walk to bars, restaurants, etc ... plenty of room to tailgate if you want our just go drink'in at the nearby bars ...
Go to Redbeards on "Mount Washington" ... its really just a big hill with a trolley that goes up it ... eat perogies and drink beer ! ain't much better
