Thanks Ryan. The O line has major problems. Hopefully the off season will be good for them.

Sorry just can't take any type of future prognostication off of one bowl game. We have seen it for years around here under BV. You could count on at least 2 or 3 games a year where Clemson's defense looked like they've never played together before. So as far as the defense goes I'm more inclined to go with trends and the trend is this side should be fine. I'm still confused at how bad the offensive line can be. Most of these guys were top 150-300 type of recruits that a lot of big time programs wanted but for some reason they can't perform their job. Did Parks and Tate mean that much (maybe they did). I find it odd that this happened when Riley came in and changed up the blocking scheme yet when they went back to a more zone look it tended to look better. I don't know but am excited about someone with Luke's pedigree to have a full off season with the guys. As far as receivers I have a hard time believing that no receiver was able to get separation the whole year. I do believe that the offense as a whole plays a part in this whole thing, I know I'm not breaking the scientific world with that analysis but when you have a QB that started the season not as comfortable setting his feet, an offensive line that can barely pass or run block and lack of elite speed at WR you end with a QB that can barely get pass his 1st or 2nd read. Definitely doesn't have the time to work across and come back to anyone. So when you look at defenses on perceived runs plays you commit 8 to the box and on pass plays you just make to QB hold it for more than 3 seconds bc the o-line can't hold up. That makes me question why we didn't see more short crossers and short middle TE catches. It also makes me think it was WAY more Sonny Dykes or Dikes and LESS Garrett Riley. We'll see. I do like this team will be in the same offense for the first time in 3 years. So we should see a growth across the board. So back to why I even commented and the usefulness or lack thereof of bowl games. Easy answer for most fans, bowl games mean nothing when you lose and eternal optimisim when you win. I like this team next year and do believe they can be very much so be a top 10 team. I also believe as hard as this season was I do believe it is good to reflect and learn from. The one thing I want to see more of next year is the pride of wearing the PAW every second of every game. This is Clemson for goodness sake, you don't have to fear us but you dang sure will respect us and if you don't we will make you.

Thank you Ryan. I'm glad you recognize the O line issues. It seems some on here either think there are none or they don't want to admit them for fear it will excuse much of CK's miscue's. No doubt he needs to work on some things but I've seen flashes from him when given the opportunity he should be really good. I am slightly more optimistic with Luke on board, but oh my, he's got his hands full. I'm less optimistic with the OC position. Frankly, I couldn't tell the difference with Riley on board than with Streeter's offense. Maybe that goes back to the O line? And receivers? As to why much of the scheme is nickel and dime stuff at the LoS. And less vertical than we used to be. I have faith on the D side of things but will not expect the backfield to be as good. My biggest hope is they will find a way to stop these break away runs that seem to be inexcusable. Some of you guys that know football better may take issue with this. Overall, my expectations going into next year will not be as high. Not bc I think the next unit will be bad, but obviously I realize my expectations going into 2023 were unrealistic. Maybe that will bode well for 2024?

a better offensive line will make Klubnick better and,as a result, the receivers I see next year being very similar to this year-time to get the Chad more involved-time for Gresham and Spiller to move on- make Scott more prominent in the process!

It's hard to imagine they are counting on Linthicum heavily next year. He's been in the system three years and hasn't received any meaningful snaps.

I get that, but why were they not looking for an immediately plug-in guy then? It is interesting to say the least.

From your article - “ It seems to me they could have all but promised a strong transfer to a starting spot if they didn’t believe Linthicum could be very good next season.”
I’m not exactly sure I understand this comment but if you are trying to say we could have promised a starting spot to a portal guy to get him to come, you gotta know that’s not going to happen. Dabo isn’t going to guarantee a starting spot to anyone. He just doesn’t work that way.

You’re right. What I mean is if you didn’t believe in Linthicum, you’d tell them “if you play to your potential you have a clear path to becoming the starter.” If you believe in your options at C you tell them it’s going to be a real competition and you’ll be given a fair chance to win it. It seems to me they have faith in Linthicum (or Howard or Sewell) based on how the portal attempts went. Does that make sense?

Great analysis as always, Ryan. Gonna be interesting to see what the next season holds with the gargantuan task of UGA as our opener with unproven secondary and unproven holes on OL but I believe we will fair ok, a lot better than FSU did (wink wink). Hope you have a happy New Year along with everyone else reading this. God bless and GO TIGERS!!

Except for maybe the grounding call. Reply showed the QB right on the line for being outside the tackle box. Could have easily not been called at this critical stage of the game, especially given the other non-calls during the game.

It was close, but I tend to believe they don't call it nearly enough in general (like carrying or "palming" as my dad called it in basketball).
