Toughness

Toughness and accountability by Penn State and Notre Dame were very prominently seen this year. Disappointed not to see those qualities in our team this past year, especially on defense. Many missed (or late arrival) assignments. Hopefully, there will be a significant improvement this coming year.

Allen may not have a magic wand to wave, but he sure sounds like he has the magic words that will get the most out of what he has to work with. IMO, I believe that he will put together a special D out of the players that's at Clemson today, and if our players have NFL aspirations they should want to work hard and be the best they can be with the talent they brought to Clemson with them and play to their best ability, Go Tigers!!!

Interview kind of sounds like what you would get if you crossed Dabo with Venables. Sounds good to me.

It does sound good. You don't go to war with the army you want. You take the army you got. If he can play chess with the pieces he has, the pieces he says are elite, that's fabulous.

Go Tigers.

Excellent point. With cape coming back and Amare, we're set at dline. Hopefully the existing DE's just need coaching and positioning to bloom.. for depth purposes.

Definitely have a group of linebackers and between Tom and Ben, hopefully we have some hidden gems behind them that really didn't look good last year. That too would shore up depth and give us the best front 7 in CFB.

I still think we could use a safety with power and speed, along with experience. Add a corner that could play opposite A Terrell and that would be nasty. So, imo 2 more from the portal. Speed!!! As a whole, our D lacked overall team speed the last two years. I firmly believe if we can get these pieces, we'll dominate and rival some of our best D's ever.

I understand we have some dudes, but just not the depth and experience. Injuries happen. Am I wrong to think we could use 2 more portal pieces...

That's the name of the game, play the pieces that you have with full intentions to win with what you have...

I am expecting a noticeably improved defense.

I really don't think that's a huge stretch. The resulting possibilities are very, very exciting.

I thought it was a great interview and I think we will see a great improvement in our defense.

Because we don't have the luxury of pre-season games, and knowing it took BV a little while to put his finger prints on our D, I hope people don't judge too harshly in game one against LSU.

What am I saying, TNet will be on fire with complaints with LSU's first 1st down.

Think about it, when BV got to Clemson he had to start at almost scratch and recruit what he needed to work with, Allen comes in with top elite pieces already there...

I mean it is...it's all 4 and 5* talent, now its just a matter of developing and getting max potential out of all of them. Getting that toughness and swag back, lighting that fire back into them and be in attack mode at all times.

I respectfully disagree that we have all 4 and 5* pieces. We have some but our blue chip ratio has been slipping on D. Not to say as I posted above that we might have some hidden gems. Jmho we need a couple more post spring.

Well I'm referring to our starters on defense in general, not every single defensive player. There's 4 and 5* talent at every starting position except maybe safety....tho Jones and Dixon were both 4* recruits.

I think Ashton Hampton has a chance to be the best corner Clemson has ever sent to the next level under Dabo. He has the same kind of instincts and feel for the position as a true freshman that Mac Alexander did while having the frame and athleticism of AJ Terrell. If Reed can develop him along the same trajectory as Alexander and Terrell we may spend much of the next two years talking about Hampton island.

Agree Tigerfan, he will be one of the best Tiger CBs IMO!***
