TL's subpar passing performance

Lawrence is still beating people with his legs and his brains, but his passing stats are below what he put up last year. How much of this is because he doesn't have Renfrow-level reliability available at the slot?

It’s felt every game. I haven’t heard how third down conversions compare between this year and last but I’m sure there is a noticeable difference.

It seem like if he throws good passes, our guys are dropping them and if TL a bad pass, it is getting intercepted. However, in the first four games he had limited playing time and the defenses were trying to stop the run. This year, they are dropping 8 and stopping the long ball for the most part. Big thing is getting the W and we are doing that. Talk is cheap, results are in and so far we are undefeated. 95% of the teams have already loss at least one game.

Renfrow’s Route running and hands were key for Lawrence and Watson.

In my opinion it has nothing to do with Renfrow. He is trying to throw the ball for a touchdown every time .On one of the interceptions he had a wide open receiver at the line of scrimmage who could have got a big gain but he saw two receivers at or nearing the goal line and threw into heavy coverage with bad results

What? He was 20 of 29, 69%! His two

Interception were because he’s forcing the ball down field and not checking down to open receivers. TL has some much confidence in his arm and his receivers that he’s going to take chances down field, DW4 does the same thing.

I see opponents taking away or minimizing the short passing game forcing TL to throw long. Not having a receiver with the skill set that number 13 had hurts the team and certainly hurts the QBs numbers. The coaches are trying to make up for Renfrow loss by throwing more to the running backs. It’s very foolish for fans to panic at this point of the season. If the players were as concerned as some of us are the team would be in trouble. The best football is just ahead. I plan to be at every game. How about you!

I think it’s more just a recency bias, and seeing last year from orange colored lenses.
Dabo said our 3rd down conversion rate was actually higher this year than at the same point last year by a few percentage points.

TL's subpar passing performance? Or did he just set the bar

so high based on his performance from last year??? He's still had a great year in my book. The young man hasn't lost a game yet and we have criticized his performance this year.

Nobody is criticizing TL. Just acknowledging the impact of Hunter Renfrow on Clemson football. Pretty sure Trevor himself would say he's missing an important tool from last year's toolbox.

You started this post with "TL's sub par passing performance". How else are we to take it?
I agree HR is being missed but I thought Trevor clearly rebounded from a shaky start and played a check if a game. Take away his first few passes and he was pretty dang good.
