There’s plenty of rumors going around with his name attached.
Primarily a DB coach, which tracks along the lines of Reed and Conn not coming back.
Also, which could be nothing but feels more like something, almost every Clemson football defensive player has suddenly started following him on his X account as well.
Not saying it’s a for sure thing, but it feels like things are starting to point in the direction that he’ll be making the jump from Tennessee to Clemson pretty soon.

So I guess you didn’t watch that Clemson team get put 40 plus put on them a couple times under Brent Venablea but you pick out things you want. Go look at Boise States defense. Or look and see if Wisconsin ain’t had some points put on it.

We have a very different definition of "top defenses". In his 4 years at Tennessee he's only cracked the top 20 once. At Penn State he was a "co d coordinator" and they didn't seem to have any drop off after he departed.

Tennessee finished the season with these rankings.
Ranked 1st in total defense, 4th in scoring defense, 5th in third-down conversions, 6th in tackles for loss, 9th in rushing defense, 11th in red zone defense, and 16th in first downs allowed.

They also spent a wad on some Dudes. We have a drop in talent as well. If it's Banks, he better be expecting the talent drop and be able to help with scheme until we get a few more dudes on defense. It's not all scheme at Clemson. There's a talent issue on D as well. A change was needed, but it's not all scheme.

People wanted that when Morris got hired.. changed the way Clemson operated offensively.
People wanted that when Elliot/Scott got hired.. brought in 2 national titles.
Dabo knows a lot more than any fan on any message board honestly.
If Dabo thinks he’s the right guy to right his wrongs, I’ll trust him.

He had what was arguably the best program in college football just 5-6 years ago, and it’s now in probably the 15-20 range. That’s on him, just as much as our rise to the top was.
When Dabo makes decisions like hiring and promoting unqualified coaches and being hesitant to use NIL and the transfer portal to their fullest, he opens himself up to deserved criticism - especially when a decline in our program follows.
This notion that the is above questioning because he won big in the past has to stop. He has earned our respect for sure, but he makes plenty of mistakes and clearly has done so based on the product on the field the last few years.

I think the point trying to be made here is that you don’t hold Brownell to this same standard.
Brownell has consistently underachieved and/or blown successful seasons at the back half of it.
Just admit that you hate Dabo and the success he’s brought to Clemson because now the fan base expects more from our mediocre basketball program because of it.

It would be a dissapointment because he has a history of coming up small against elite competition .......i measure someone against the best not the worst......riley looks pretty good against nc state and app state.....unfortunately he doesnt look good against georgia and sc, banks gave up almost 70 to a bad sc team.

They gave up 42 points to Ohio State and 31 points to Georgia this year.
Last year, they gave up 38 to Georgia, 36 to Missouri, and 34 to Alabama.
They held Alabama to 17 this year, which I guess is pretty good, but Michigan held Alabama to 13 and Oklahoma held them to 3.
I’m not seeing what is so wonderful about this DC, unless it’s because the fanboys are starstruck that he is in the SEC.

Their defense has gotten progressively better each year with Banks at the helm.
It doesn’t matter who or what Dabo does, because you’re going to find a way to troll it and say it was the wrong move regardless.
Acting like he’s a bad hire simply because there have been games their defense has given up points is a terrible argument.
There are plenty of games with Venables being DC at Clemson that the defense got shredded. So by your logic, Venables is a bad coordinator too?

He's basically had 1 good year at Tennessee and has had some absolutely awful games along the way. Not gonna lie, I don't see this as much of an upgrade over Wes. We're basically trading poor run defense for poor pass defense.
