Tiger Big Bass...I looked through the 1972 version of Bassmaster I got last

week, and there were ads of different versions of what we call spinnerbaits,Mann's Jelly Worm (I still remember the first bass I caught on one a Clark Hill fishing for crappie with my dad...he was ticked at I get casting into the trees where he wanted to quietly drop a cork and minnow), and then there was this one by Smithwick Lure Co....THE ONLY THING I EVER KNEW THEY MADE WAS THE "Devil's Horse".

The other thing I noticed was how many different manufacturer's of bass boats there were with ads in the magazine...Mon Ark,Boston Whaler,King Fisher,Glastron,Cordell Coin'Jesse (Never heard of that one before),Fisher Marine, and of course Ranger (a dadgum inboard outboard model....with a swivel seat on top of the motor)...no self respecting bass fisherman of today would show up with an inboard outboard today. NO WAY!

....and then...there was the Harry'n'Charlie episode of the month...Caricatures no doubt..but spot on at the same time....

I was going to tell you before I read the second post that Smitheick used to make a Rattle Trap type of bait long before rattle trap. Smitheick had theirs, then Heddon came out with their version the Bayou Boogie that had a cupped lip, then Cotton Cordell came out with the Cordell Spot (very much a trap), then very soon after was the Rattle Trap. Of course every company came out with their version after that.

My dad was a fishing guide on Santee when I was a kid and one of his guide buddies had that inboard Ranger and I always thought it was the dumbest invention ever. This guide, wont name names but he committed suicide in the 90s but guided on Okeechobee in the winter and Santee spring/summer. He had a Ranger sponsorship, was one of first guys I knew to fish tournaments, but that inboard was something Ranger was excited about for some ungodly reason.

The ole Manns Jelly worm, smelled like grapes. Then they added the fire tail that was all the rage. All of this when I grew up in late 70s, early 80s on Santee.

Does she go along with the Fisher Marine boat? Might have to take up fishing again.

I remember all these boats except the Cordell Coin. I wonder if that was part of the Cotton Cordell company?
