Not a great matchup for us.
Just hoping Ewers has a bad game. I know he’s more than capable of losing this one for them.
Cade is better and beat him in high school.

They have no running game and a qb that couldn’t get positive yards with his legs if he were the only person on the field. This a dream matchup for our defense.

Ewers is a gunslinger and will put the ball up for grabs at times. We have to be able to score and be dominant on the defensive front. I think we have a shot in this one.

SMU offense is much more dangerous … I think the issue we will have is somehow finding a running game without putting Cade in bad spots .. and scoring in their defense , I could see another Clemson scar type of game

I was impressed with SMU's speed, a couple of their receivers and their defensive backs. I think they have a chance of advancing...

Texas looked big and physical upfront against Georgia. With our RB issues right now, their defensive line could be a challenge. If the QB play is good and Cade can distribute effectively to the WR's and TE we can hang. Defensive adjustments or a lack thereof in the second half are my concern.

I don’t expect our offense to do much. Their defense is legit. They are a Georgia and South Carolina caliber defense. We scored 17 combined on those 2 defenses.
Our running game has been nonexistent over the last month. We’ll need our defense to play their best game and Ewers to struggle.

Early predictions had the Tigers facing Penn State, much better chance of beating Texas instead, they haven't played good since early in the season.

In Austin. Agreed Leon, we do not match up well IMO.
They have the competitive depth we used to have and currently don’t have. Texas certainly is not a perfect team…but certainly will be a tall order.
I’ve been to two Texas games over last two years and I will post a primer for Clemson fans who will travel. DKR is a great place to watch a game. Good fans too. Different atmosphere though…like a carnival/fair atmosphere around stadium…not many places to tailgate from car.

Curious - who would you have rather matched up with? (At least based on the higher seeds we'd travel to.)
Personally, I think we got a favorable road trip compared to Happy Valley or South Bend (at least weather wise). Yeah, Texas has the talent and it's going to take our best ball all year to win the game but that'd be pretty much any game against the higher seeds.

They're going to have their hands full with SMU. I don't trust Franklin and that group to deliver in crunch time. And it's not like it isn't cold and wintry in Dallas late December along with Happy Valley PA.

Texas does not have a great offense. We will hold them under 30 points. But their defense is really #### good. It’s going to be difficult to pull off a win if we can’t manufacture some kind of rushing attack. But this is a better matchup than Penn State or Notre Dame for us…if we can let the offense loose

At their best, Texas’s offense can hang 35+ on our defense.
At our best, our offense probably couldn’t score 21 on their defense.
We’ve scored 17 combined points against the 2 defenses we’ve played that are on Texas’s level.

Cade is going to have to be money. I think we certainly can score 4+ TDs if we hit on some throws. They left guys wide open against Texas A&M a few times. I haven't really watched much more against them but I don't believe they have played a qb close to Cades level.

Honestly we don't matchup with anyone well considering our coaches go to la-la land for half of every game and just doing the "eye test" against everyone else, we have looked horrendous comparatively. But Texas or Penn State are the best draws we could've possibly got from a schematic standpoint. I'll take it honestly. It's someone we've never played that is a blue blood. New venue for the fans to travel to as well. Very exciting in many aspects.

Believe it or not i like Clemsons D to hold up for most of this game. Pretty concerned about the offense, they are going to get after Cade and not worry about the rbs at all. Can't be one dimensional against teams like Texas.
