Those missed FGs werent Robert Gunns Fault

7

This makes me so #### mad.
Does it take somebody is stupid as me to see this?
What in the hell do all the smart people in the booth do on FG/EP Attempts?
On the Extra Pt, I noticed that on our left side, there were 2 DU speedsters vs. 1 Clemson blocker. Their outside guy was untouched and came within a bat of an eyelash of blocking it. It almost gave me a heart attack.
I TOLD MYSELF:
Surely the booth will see this, and relay it, and they’ll fix the problem.
BUT, NO SUCH #### LUCK.
FG1: Exact same thing: Their outside guy untouched and full sped to the ball + voila, Blocked.
FG2: NO CHANGE - same guy, untouched, bat of an eyelash, if he didn’t touch it.
——-
Don’t tell me that a collapsing FG OL, with an outside speedster screaming in doesn’t affect a kicker, no matter how good he is.
I KNOW #### WELL IT DOES.
IT MESSES UP THE TIMING
——
And some stupid idiot like me sees the whole thing coming, and nothing ever gets fixed.
And to think,
Dabo is basically blaming Robert for the whole mess.
It makes me so #### mad.
Did anybody else The Hell see this?

I don't disagree that blocking was definitely part of it, but neither of those kicks got above head high either.

The 2nd one he kicked it into the guy and would have

been further wide left had it not been tipped. Not sure about the first one.

The defender came right up the middle to block the first one***

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

I though the 2nd one was more of a duck hook too...

and would have been wide left regardless of the defender.

You are absolutely right. There is NEVER an excuse for having even 1 FG blocked, much less 2 by the same defender. You don't have to block them, just slow them down a smidge.

I beg to differ. Watch closely when he starts his kick. He is a half step slow. Watch other kickers. They move forward immediately when the center snaps. Gunn waits until the ball is almost to the spotter before he starts forward. Shoult be able to fix in practice.

He kicks like I swing the golf club... hitting the ground before the ball

What were you watching?

Both those kicks were way too low

All the guy had to do was stick his stupid hand up.

The only blocks that would have kept those kicks from being blocked were illegal blocks

No expert here, but many teams will let a guy run around the end with a little push or shoulder rub; knowing if the kicker/snap are on time, the “speedster” will not get there in time.

Looks like he shanked both kicks

I don't want to discount what you are saying

Sep 6, 2023, 1:15 PM

but both of those attempts could've hit any reasonably tall defender in the face. Hes got to get more lift on those kicks.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

those kicks were garbage

no reflection on him personally but it is what it is. I'm sure he'd say the same

My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament.

Your timeline is off which means your whole assessment is total BS. There was no extra point before the first FG attempt.
