Jim Valvano's 1983 National Championship team the way they are playing right now.The '83 team was playing the same way in the regular season as this 2023-24 team did but got it going in the ACC Tournament by winning it and then the rest was history and the reason why they were known as the cardiac Pack

Except the games are not close.

The cardiac pack name came from winning close games late.

Marquette helped them by playing horrible on offense. They couldn't hit any of the numerous uncontested shots NC State gave them. They looked seriously out of sync, and it wasn't because of anything the Pack did.

You can't expect to win in the tournament when you shoot like 30% from the field, and 50% from the FT line.

NC State was the beneficiary of an epically bad offensive performance by their opponent. They should have gotten boat raced, and their next opponent likely won't be having an "off" night.

Exactly. Some of the miscues by both teams resembled church league play. Credit to Nc State as they found a way to win but it was an epically bad offensive showing by Marquette.

I missed most of the Duke game last night, but assume NC State will have to play better to win Sunday.

(On a side note, if Houston didn't have the game ending injury to one of their studs in the 1st half Duke may not have won)
