This LSU Demi-God Status ESPUKE and the Swamp People

Jan 7, 2020, 10:10 AM

are spreading is plain silliness. There is no "secret magical unicorn offense" that can automatically destroy all comers. It does not exist at ANY level of football, so these prognostications of 50-60 points being put up against the #1 defense are just crazy. Clemson absolutely can take LSU's best punches and not quit, see semi-final if you have questions on that.

Not to get into comparatives, but Oklahoma's personnel, scheme and execution were poor at best defensively. On Monday, LSU is going to face a very good to exceptional defense that has an incredibly fast adjustment cycle and has the athletes to execute it in a variety of ways. Expect LSU to score in the 24-33 range, barring a bad night.

What the LSU pundits conveniently overlook is that Clemson's offense will score and can boatrace if need be. O310 State's defense is better than LSU's PERIOD. Not hugely better, but better and absent LSU's defense playing the best game of their season and then some, should expect Clemson to score at least 30 points.

I expect this game to be heavyweight bout, decided in the 4th quarter. Outside of the players, Clemson has a definite coaching advantage and LSU is almost playing a home game and will have a crowd advantage. At this point the money line on Clemson is a very attractive bet and if the point line goes to 7.5 one would be crazy not to take it.

LSU fan here. I agree with most of what you said. Every LSU fan I know would also.

Clemson's defense is very good. Individual players don't really scare me as a fan so much as the scheme they play in. I would say that before the SEC championship game in an interview Burrow commented that he doesnt know why he watches the defensive film because every team since about midway through the season has been completely changing their scheme to try to confuse him. They've just been adapting on the fly.

Auburn is the game everyone points to as how to get to LSU defensively. Georgia's D was arguably the best overall team D we have played this year and they tried for a good portion of the game to copy Auburn's game plan but if you dont have the dudes up front to get pressure with only 3 or 4 you end up getting picked apart.

Everyone kinda knows that you have to get to Burrow to stop him. Hes completing almost 78% of his passes so you can't rely on him missing throws or the receivers dropping passes. The most impressive part of his game this year is is accuracy and decision making while under pressure.

"When pressured, Burrow still completes 73.9 percent of his passes, a clip 9.5 percentage points better than any other player in the country and the top mark produced by any QB since at least 2011.4. He also has a 211.2 passer efficiency rating, the highest among qualified passers over that stretch, and has thrown 19 touchdowns, five clear of any other QB in a single season."

Thats where you pick your poison. If you dont get to him. He picks you apart. If you do go after him you better get there quick.

Our defense is not as good as Ohio States sadly. But they have played alot better as the year has progressed. The whole team has. As big a transition as the offense has made, you have to remember the defense had to make wholesale changes as well to adjust to the time on the field. Think about where Aranda has been as a defensive coach and look at their offense. Before LSU, he was with Wisconsin. How much different do you think this year has been as a coach for him! lol

Anyway I agree this is a 4th Q game. I cant wait to watch it. I'd also say good luck to you guys but F that. GEAUX TIGERS!

That's a fair post.

I would like to add one or two points of my own.

I know everyone is throwing everything at that offense to try to slow it down. Perhaps they really have seen it all. But our guy is a mad mad scientist and he thinks that defense is offense, So he shifts back and forth wildly between ultra-aggressive and smartly sly. We think he can confuse Joe a bit more than anyone else has. Time will tell.

We think that a fourth quarter game favors us. We just had to go 4 rounds with OSU. Most of y'all's game are over by halftime. What will happen when the game gets into the 4th quarter and you don't have a lead. Will the pressure of the Natty and being the favorite in front of all of your hometown fans start to get into your heads? Not to mention, we are convinced that we are deeper and better conditioned than you. So if it's close in the 4th, we are confident.

It should be a great game. We can't wait & know y'all can't either. Geaux Clemson !!
