Our conference schedule ended 2 weeks prior to Miami's game at Syracuse. That's why every team plays the same number of games? Based on your theory, if we had played Pitt tbe night after Miami lost to Syracuse we would've earned our way in?? Zero sense in what you say???

Zero signs of intelligence when you post.
7-1 > 6-2
Backing in would be going 6-2 and having a slightly better resume.

Chill. Had the situation been reversed, the narrative would have been "Miami backed into the championship..."
It definitely bites to hear the comments, but by and large the comments are correct. Sometimes the truth hurts. But it doesn't mean it's not true.
Had we been in the sec this year, we're Oklahoma playing navy right now, fighting for a winning record.

That ‘backing into the ACC championship’ narrative is n9nsense.
Clemson was 7 - 1 in the ACC and Miami was 6 - 1 in the ACC on the last game for both teams during the regular season.
Miami had to win another game to clinch the #2 record in the ACC.
It was all in Miami’s hands. They dropped it.
The correct narrative is that Miami choked.

The comments ARE NOT CORRECT! If Syracuse beats Miami in September or October, did we still back our way in? Heck if Syracuse beats Miami on 11/9 or 11/16 instead of 11/30, would anyone be saying we backed our way in?
You play your conference schedule and the date the wins and losses fall on doesn't matter period. All that matters is who finishes first and second at the conclusion of the conference schedule.

They were the only 11-2 ACC team. They earned their playoff slot before the ACCCG.

We are the only one holding the trophy. It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks. A team that has won 8 of the last 10 championships hasn’t backed into anything.

Yea. Because we had a conference loss earlier in the season. It was already decided by most folks, evidently including BOM, that Miami deserved to go and we didn’t. Honestly don’t understand why they even played the game vs Syracuse.

All that was talked about by the ESPN heads prior to the Louisville game was a Miami-Clemson ACCCG to the point it was ticking SMU off that they weren't even being mentioned for the game. That Louisville loss was like one of those old school Tommy Bowden ### games.

Based on what? We lost every game where we played a decent opponent except SMU. I don't think that's on ESPN. Let's fix the problems on defense before we start talking about Religion.

In all fairness we didn't control our own destiny. Because of that we had to rely on Syracuse winning in order to play for a Championship game. We made the title game due to Syracuse helping us out. It stinks, but had we taken care of business against Louisville this argument wouldn't hold water...but we didnt.

So if Syracuse and Miami had played on 11/16 and we played Pittsburgh in 11/30 we wouldn’t have “backed in”? We had 1 conference loss and Miami had 2. We earned it and they didn’t. I know that doesn’t fit the dumper narrative but it is true.

Who knows how the outcome would have been if you rearrange the dates. Injuries, momentum, etc all effect outcomes. My point is simple, at the end of the year we didn't control our own destiny. We had to rely on another team losing before we could make the ACC title game. It worked out in our favor, but hoping for a certain outcome to ensure an appearance isn't the way to go. The playoff committee admitted as much that we were lucky by placing us in the 12th seed over the very team we beat in the title game.

We know the outcome of the games. They were actually played. If the dates were reversed, the narrative would have been “Clemson controls their destiny. Beat Pitt and they are in”. We did what we needed to to earn a berth in the championship game. Miami did not. That’s the point.

When you play a game is almost as important as who you play. Playing UGA in week 1 is a heck of a lot harder than playing UGA now without their QB. Additionally, having to rely on a other team to lose their last regular season game of the year is not the same as being in control of your own destiny. Clemson's loss to Louisville made us entirely dependent on another teams outcome to make the ACC title game. Our seeding in the playoff directly reflects the national perception we lucked our way into the playoffs. It's pretty telling that SMU was given a better seeding than Clemson even though we beat them in the ACC title game. A 3 loss Clemson teams was viewed as a lucky addition who "backdoored" their way into the playoffs.
