If we should have lost, why did they make NC State attempt the FG? Shouldn't they have just declared them the winner since we "should have lost?" Or why did they allow overtime? Even after the missed FG, if we should have lost wouldn't the official have surely known this truth and called the game for NC State with no overtime needed?
Point...That's why you play the game. No coulda, shoulda, woulda. The results of the game are what should have happened because it's what DID happen after both teams' effort. Clemson didn't execute and put themselves in a position to lose the game. NC State didn't execute when they could have won the game. It is what it is, no asterisk necessary.
