The school finds someone to sponsor them and they live with that family. IMG is not the only private school that does this in florida. My granddaughter played basketball in a private in Gainesville that did the same thing for the basketball players because they did not have a football team.

$$$s to send andre to img-bollettieri for a few months, but after seeing andre play, nick sent the check back.
they've only had football for a handful of years, i'm not sure how many pay, but yeah; it ain't cheap.
IMG[international management group] is huge, global.
the first of these sports factories i remember was cincinnati-moeller, gerry faust, but nothing like the huge corporation img is.
i'm sure img plans on first crack at managing these kids down the road.

They already do it to an extent to get kids ready for HS

Some big HS's in the area have pee wee teams that run a variant of their offenses/defenses to get them familiar with the scheme.

Yeah, Byrnes, Dorman, and Spartanburg do it I believe.
Lots of people won't send their kids to boarding schools for sports, but more and more are paying good money for "trainers" in different disciplines.

Apologies to Bob in advance because he seems like a great guy, but does anyjuan find it interesting that Bob is concerned about IMG dipping into "peewee" or "midget" leagues?

i imagine people that paid for their kid to go there

don't worry much about $70k, but i hear that.
serious business, they made their bones in tennis, soccer and some of the other "less" established sports where this kind of help was hard to come by.
it's one of the reasons i don't believe people should worry about an fsu guy coaching there as it means more to img to help the kids make the best decision for the kids & img, not for fsu or any other college.

I agree with that. Odds are no matter who coaches there will have a college education from somewhere.
Honestly, for that kind of money it should be a person who was successful at all levels in his/her sport. They know the ins and outs and ups and downs.
