I'm not sure the folks clamoring for Sammy Brown or Adam Randell or whoever to step in and play running back understand what they're asking......

Running back doesn't just mean "hand me the ball and let me take off." It's knowing where to be on each play, how to pick up a blitz (and actually block a linebacker coming in at full steam), how to deal with RPO's, etc. If you stick a guy in with no experience (or 2 weeks experience), sure he might get you some yards, but he also might get your QB killed in the process. It took ETN at least a year to pick up blitzes...

Situational fill in? Maybe on a 1st and goal from the 3 when they're no RPO's, , but not as a standard RB... Just asking too much otherwise.

Hopefully Mafah is healthy or one of the young dudes can step up.... Gotta have a run game to keep them honest or Texas will make Cade miserable.

No, they probably don't know. I understand the enthusiasm, but maybe just let the running backs play running back?

Yes, the wildcat allows runner to get ball quicker and see better. They know Mahafa is getting it anyway.

Remember when we had Zach Brooks....Adam Choice and Fuller. Those types of backs got in the games and did decent......except maybe that game we had Florida State right where we wanted them one year...and I think it was Fuller that fumbled the ball near the red-zone. Later as Florida State took over Mack Alexander fell down.... which freed up a FSU receiver for the winning touchdown.

Not sure what is holding the guys we have now back...but we are in need. We need another combo like we had in Ellington and McDowell. We need it now.
