It seems a bit "fishy", at least the fishy smell. It is my understanding that during the down period re the virus, coaches could not initiate contact with a prospect but the prospect could. If this rule was followed to the "T", then he wasn't totally committed to Clemson. BUT, I see all sorts of shenanigans that are possible by other schools. Ohio State was also recruiting the LB from his school who committed to Clemson. I wonder if Ohio State is trying to make a package deal. Every thing may be on the up and up but I still can't shake this "fishy" feeling.
If he really doesn't want to be a Tiger, that's OK with me. There are still a lot of excellent prospects available and Dabo & staff will recruit those who meet our standards. If he wants to come back and be a 100% Tiger, that's OK with me. These prospects are still immature in some areas and some will make mistakes they later regret.

Dabo’s constant rationalizing and tone-deaf statements are catching up with him. He badly misjudged the current climate and he’s made several stupid statements and tried to explain away the t-shirt incident.

about is the "negative press" that is destroying America. Dabo has been neither "tone-deaf" nor insensitive. He has simply spoken from the heart.
The Liberal media doesn't care who they destroy - whether it be white cops doing their jobs or 8-year-old Black innocents - but they surely love it when they can tale down a Southern Christian. ####, they get all puffed up and Al Sharpton on that.
Dabo's no Saint; but if they can spin Racist and Unfeeling crap on him, then they can destroy anyone simply by "BEARING FALSE WITNESS".
I'm with Baltimore here - I've already shunned the NBA and NFL - eff'em. If CFB is going to pander to the BLM crowd then they will do without me and my attention. And I've no doubt that the good guys like Brent Venables and Dabo Swinney will be following shortly behind.
Best of luck to Mr. Hancock - truly. As to the Liberals and Media in this country, eff'you all.

There’s no false witness. Dabo told Kap to leave the country and the Football matters shirt was a horrible optic. Sorry to keep it real but that matters to black families. Recruiting is a tough game and there are several other great options for talented kids. Clemson has a black eye right now and it’s best asset (campus environment) is closed for visits.

Dabo has always had negative press since he’s had a microphone in his face. If someone has a problem with him or his staff then so be it. I’d take former players words over someone who’s salty they didn’t get an offer from Clemson or a coach who will tell anything to a kid to get him to commit. Also a fan board shouldn’t sway someone’s life decisions. If it does then don’t get on Twitter or any other social media. People say whatever they want and create face profiles to make others, companies, teams, schools, etc. look bad.

So a shirt from several years ago should have bearing today, especially when that shirt was for something entirely different. That picture of the "football matters" was from several years ago. Its not like he was wearing it a month ago. The media and haters are going to do anything they can to pull Dabo and Clemson down. Opposing coaches will say anything to pull a commit. As far as Kaepernick, Dabo was spot on. He was a distraction for his team and he did it entirely as a way to try and save his career, not that he deserved it. Hes actually making more now than when he was playing. If he was to say ANYTHING about the violence of his own people, i might have respect. He doesnt mention anything about black on black crimes. Should police be held to a higher standard? Yes. But let me tell you, those men and women get put through he'll. My brother in law is a retired state trooper. You dont want to go there. That is one thankless, disgusting and debilitating job. The mental fortitude that those men and women need is astounding. Yet Mr. Kaepernick wants to put all the blame on each and every person out there trying to protect those who hate them. You didnt mention, oddly enough, Dabos words about MLK Jr. Funny. He paid about as high a compliment to the civil rights leader as he could. No comment? Stop the hate

Dabo's character, dedication and actions over the years has been his response, not a few words uttered to please the crowd. Ask the plyers and their families about Dabo's concern for every player on the team. Actions speak louder than words. To base one's character and response on a shirt is really groping for an excuse to confirm one's bias.

This is the most myopic and manipulative take I have seen here on Tnet lately and that is saying a lot. How you attempt to formulate a relation to this kids’ decision and Dabo wearing a T-shirt is just plain sad if you believe it. Tell me, why wait two months of Dabo’s horrific press follies were such a deal breaker? The answer is, he didn’t.
You’d fit in better over on FGF than here. Take your racial agenda and propaganda there. They are always looking for new losers.

Kap abandoned by his black father (and white mother), and adopted and raised by a white family. Kap who has compared cops to runaway slave patrols and was caught on camera wearing socks depicting cop as pigs. Then there are the dozens and dozens of good cops and innocent civilians murdered by BLM supporters and rioters. BLM an organization and movement co-opted by neo-marxists and SJW anarchists, have been caught on camera chanting "NO BORDERS, NO WALLS, NO USA AT ALL" and "pigs in a blanket, fry em like bacon".
These are facts.

Based on your comments, I am assuming you are a coot or bucknut trolling. However, anyone who truly believes Dabo has an ounce of racism in his body or that he’s handled any of these manufactured crises poorly is either a liar or a fool. IMO and based on testaments of hundreds of players of all races, Dabo is the epitome of ‘color blind’, which used to be what racial equality was all about. If virtue signaling and perfect political maneuvering is whats important to a player instead of a coaches ability to build character and prepare you for an NFL career and more importantly a more fulfilled life, then good riddance. Im sure Cryin Ryan will tell you whatever it is you want to here..

same mistake and YOU DO IT ON PURPOSE.
The vast majority of those of us who don't like Kap simply don't like his DISRESPECT for the Flag.
MOST of us actually support the movement to provide Equal Opportunity for African Americans, assuming it doesn't already exist.
The continued Manipulation of "Black Families", in your terms, is then little more than LYING about what is really being said by Dabo.
So if that's who you want to be - an Intended Manipulator - then by all means you can join Mr. Hancock at anOSU or wherever he ends up. Clemson doesn't need people like that, and I, for one, have every intention of calling you SOB's out about it.

I'm glad Coach Swinney says and DOES what he thinks is right; consequences be darned. His message since day 1 has been that football matters. Before BLM even. If he didn't believe that he would not be a coach. His treatment and investment into players is the proof. Anyone making a fuss about the shirt is either ignorant, biased or running with an agenda.

The Football Matters shirt was a big screw up
Jul 15, 2020, 12:42 PM
|
|
I was 100% convinced that photo was either shopped or was from several years ago and just presented as current because i refused to believe Dabo was naive enough to make a mistake like that. I was wrong. Regardless of what he meant by it, it was incredibly obvious how it would be interpreted by the public.
Between this and a couple of other things Dabo has said over the years, I would imagine there's a lot of negative recruiting being used against him right now. By (nearly) all accounts from former players and such, Dabo is a fantastic and genuine person, but that doesn't really matter in the world of negative recruiting. All that matters is that there's a little bit of dirt out there that, when presented together, can be used to paint a negative image of Dabo. It doesn't matter if it's true.

If Dabo loses a few games you’d be ready to get rid of him too, right. Dabo being open and honest is who he is. The ones who don’t want to hear truth or only want to pick and chose parts of what he said are not the recruits we need.
Dabo has built a culture here that has discipline but puts the players first and players covet a Clemson offer. Dabo has built the Clemson Football program into a model that others want to be like.
We need a windshield mentality because they’re many top players who would love to come to Clemson and play. Those are the ones we should focus on.
It’s on to the next great player and their opportunity to be great at Clemson.
If they decommit who cares why, we are at the top and we will find another great young man who wants to play at the highest level.
Go Tigers
We now have an opportunity to find another ETN corner back.

2 DBs last year (top 150) 2 DB’s this year (Davis will be a lock down corner) Likely losing no DB’s after 2020 season.
We are fine. I know we need to keep our shelves stocked, but we are fine.

Apparently a family member called the coaches to decommit

Maybe wasn't Jordan's choice, or maybe just afraid to speak with the coaches. I wonder if it's one of his family members buying into the Dabo negative press. Not sure why anyone would have an agenda against Dabo, but if a recruit or their family can't see through media BS or speak with Dabo about it directly then they can do what they will. I'm sure Jordan will do fine at another Univ, and we'll get a star that wants to be at Clemson. Wanting Nyland Green pretty bad.

If that's the case, then wish him luck and move on...

It was handled poorly by him and his family. We'll be fine without him.

Yep. If that's true then I'd say both parties have moved on.

Obviously disappointing but if the young man didn't see fit to tell the coaches himself (which I acknowledge would not be an easy thing to do), there's nothing there. Best of luck to him.

Re: Another Tactic in Recruiting ...

AS I stated in another post. I believe the NIL is another selling point for the Big Markets with Bigger Schools, larger cities and states and fan bases. Just tell the Top recruits about all the extra money that they can make from so many Fans than lil ole Clemson has. I hope college football has a way to level the playing field for all colleges and not let money steer a recruit to one school over another. Maybe a cap on what they earn to keep it fair for all.

This is my take. Whether it will be true or not (waiting for CFB to provide specifics how this will be avoided), I'm sure recruiters from larger markets are telling recruits they'll make more NIL money anywhere but Clemson.

Call it what you want, just know that Dabo made his job harder with his responses...
I understand the mindset of black America right now and how public perception outside of Clemson is that Upstate SC might not be the best place for black athletes.
Also Don’t forget Dabo was the most vocal coach against kids getting paid and guess what, kids get paid now... they’ll probably be able to make more at schools like OSU, USC, and Oklahoma
there are other options for elite athletes and Clemson has had the worst off season of all.

@HAPPYTIGER21, You are so wrong! If you knew anything about Jordan Hancock, then you would know he was an OSU recruit before he took a visit to Clemson. He committed to Clemson the next day. With all this downtime, maybe he had some time to think and decided OSU was where he wants to be. Either way, Clemson is still in a good spot for Neyland Green (5 Star CB) and I am sure we will get one more. Stop trying to fault the program, especially if you are an ALUM like you say. You have two real choices, support the program (which I am) or continue to be a DBAG, the choice is yours! Also, as far as the off-season, when your on top people are going to write stories about you (mostly negative because that is what the media does). No one gives a #### what the coach of University of Akron is doing....

The recruiting trail and glad you were able to clarify the reasons. I guess Foreman still listing us in the top schools supports your statements. Also the nil issues were going to be what they were regardless of a coach’s opinion but you have it all figured out for sure

Ain't it though? I was not a very good student at Clemson, but I do have a degree and a ring to prove it. Now I just draw pretty pictures and shapes. This thing spell check takes care of the word things. Who knew? I apologize my grammar and opinions do not meet your standards, I'm just trying to get through as a dumb coot in SC living in my mom's basement clutching my bible and guns, waiting for fellow T-Net users to tell what to believe.
