A month ago we're near the top of the Big 10's wishlist or the SEC and now we gonna take a handout from the Big 12? The rumors just make me cringe.
I swear if Clemson's leadership sues to get out of a league we own for hundreds of Millions only to end up playing Iowa State, Houston, and UCF every admin should get fired.
This is Clemson we've won 2 football national titles since 2016, just made the Elite 8, in basketball we need to be in a league with the best of the best.
It's not just about playing in a good athletic league or we'd stay in the ACC.
It's not just about money and the Big 12 might give it to us. Remember the Big 12 doesn't have a current team that played in the Elite 8 men or women's basketball, CFB playoff, or CWS. They lost 12/15 men's basketball game to the ACC. It's a 3rd rate athletic league.
We're better than the ACC, but at least that's the company we know. The SEC and Big 10 are the target, we don't need to downgrade ourselves. This better just be one of those internet rumors, but I fear some have made leaving the ACC at all costs, that we've lost sight of the ultimate target.

Check the rumors out there - the mere mention of Clemson and Big 12 (a league that's lost 5 schools in the last 15 years) is not a good look for us.

It’ll cost us a cool 400 million to leave.
Wed make less money per year.
We’d get to play UCF, Cincinnati, and Iowa state.
Whats not to like?
We at least ought to dominate that league. Only Oklahoma state could stand in our way.
I for one welcome our new truck stop league colleagues.

It would stink if we didn’t get our road trips to Piscataway, N.J. , East Lansing, Mi , and Evanston , Ill.
Easy solution is combine the ACC and Big 12, tell the other 2 conferences to go F themselves. Not real interested in what anyone else thinks about Clemson or the league we’re inj

Bro you have no clue what you’re talking about in regards to the Big12 and basketball.
They are by far and away the nations best league and are about to add Arizona to it. What other league can stand up to…
Kansas
Houston
Baylor
Iowa St
Arizona
TCU
Texas Tech
That’s just the top of the league and that is going to be a murderers row of opponents.
No they don’t have a top name in football right now but they are not even close to a “bad” conference. Oklahoma St is usually good for 10 wins a year. Arizona is on the rise. TCU just played for the national championship. Baylor has proven they can win. Kansas St rattles off 8/9/10 wins a year. Iowa St is never going to be easy as long as Matt Campbell is there.
I’m not advocating for the Big12 at all believe me but it’s honestly not the worst option. The worst option is stay exactly where we are. You add Clemson and FSU to those listed above along with Utah for football and you’ve got more than a solid conference.

The same admin who made the hires and other moves that garnered the accomplishments you mention are who is working the controls to get us to a better conference. They probably didn’t just turn dumb. All these rumors are just rumors. I think one day soon we will know. The legal issues will clear and an invitation we like will arrive and we will know what the next chapter holds.

A venture capitalist is going to cherry pick the most profitable teams in the SEC and BIG and form a new conference.
It will be easy to do because the SEC and BIG don’t have contracts to keep their members from leaving. And every AD wants more money.
Clemson and FSU are however under contract to remain in the ACC for the next 10 years.

You don't have much confidence in our leadership, huh? There's no way our President, Trustees and AD are going to go to all this trouble and expense to leave the ACC only to end up in the Big 12. You have to know that many conversations are being had "behind the scenes." Sports writers get paid for getting eyes and ears attached to their comments. Rest assured, they have no idea what is going on between Clemson University and The SEC and The B1G. So there's no reason to get "spun up" about speculation. Let the process play out. I have every confidence we are going to be pleased with the result. Go Tigers!

Massive leagues will created and then the leagues will break apart again. Regionalization is college athletics is important. And I hear Lubbock, Texas is lovely in the fall.
