Rethinking joing the Big Ten

1

Sep 14, 2024, 6:05 PM

I don't know if it's true, but a friend of mine from Oregon pointed out today that the Big Ten forced Oregon and Oregon St to move their game from the final scheduled game of the season to week three because they want the last 9 games to be conference games. I checked schedules and it seems this is true, they all schedule their non conference games at the beginning of the season (except the California schools for some reason )
This would mean we would play the Coots in September.

If thats the case, just put them in the rotation

Might want to think too about the Big 10 being scared to start their season during 2020 until the last week of October. No thanks.

Doesn’t even enter the radar when making the decision on which conference.

Can’t imagine getting excited to watch B1G games all year as a southern university and fan base. We are of and from the south.

The Big Ten has expressed no interest in picking up Clemson and probably never will.

If you can't answer that you are hopeless.

The minimum salary threshold for revenue sharing (or the payroll the school pays the players, not NIL) is going to start at about $23 million. Clemson will not be able to compete in a pro league with schools making 2-3 times more in media revenue. They have no choice but to try to get to higher ground.

That’s asinine. ANY conference would roll out the red carpet for Clemson. That’s like saying the ACC wouldn’t take Bama.

…Battered Person Syndrome.

I mean, seriously, how much more abuse from this conference do you want Clemson to suffer?

I want ND to vote on one more major conference decision and then move into the big 10 😂

It's cute but It just reminds me of all the places I'd rather not play. Rutgers, Maryland..... puke.

I've never considered joing the Big Ten.

Criminals, thieves, liars, cheats and rednecks bedamned, Clemson is a southern team and we should remain in the south unless we do home and home with OSU, Michigan or ND.

I'd rather remain in the ACC than join the B1G.

In a perfect world some teams would step up which would in the end demand better money.

BC played one heck of a game against #6 Missouri at their place. Would have been a great win but was still a very solid showing.

Wake Forest=disappointment

Duke not impressive against Northwestern

Pitt beating WV was a good win and had to come back late in that one

VT losing to Vanderbilt was an embarrassment

We got ran over by Ga and we are considered one of the top flight teams in the conference

FSU suing the ACC for better money and they can’t beat Memphis at home. Embarrassment

Miami beating Fla was not a big deal seeing everyone will beat Florida

Probably other meaningful matchups the ACC could have made statements and did not which strengthens the narrative of being weak, and weak conferences cannot demand more money.

Well, whole generations grew up with the Coot game being "Big Thursday", right

smack dab in the middle of the season. So, we could get used to it not being the last game again. I don't consider that last game to be worth 30+ million dollars a year.

Why would anyone want to join the B1G? What have they done in the CFP era? Not as well as the ACC. Facts.

Is it better to be the big fish in a shallow pond (ACC) OR...

Sep 15, 2024, 10:10 AM

the small fish in a "B1G" pond? Small fish in the sense that we would be the newcomers and would not be catered to as far as schedule and other items go. Ohio State and Michigan will always get what they want as the established juggernauts in the B1G.
