Me too..a couple of weights were in the corner of the gym...had one guy who could climb the rope with his legs parallel to floor.

I remember having an "exam" that consisted of shooting 5 free-throws. You got 20 points per shot. I scored a 60 and ended up with a "D" in gym!
That's what happens when you have 110 people in your class and have one hour to change into your gym clothes...participate in whatever event was taking place that day...then shower and change back into your school clothes.
The softball games with 50+ people on each side were the best.

Today's schools
Elementary schools: 4% of schools have daily PE
Middle schools: 7% of schools have daily PE
High schools: 2% of schools have daily PE
All schools: 22% have no PE at all
It is known that PE helps with mental health, teaches healthy habits, and builds character, but daily PE was cut to save money. It doesn't always appear the replacement classes are helping much.

I remember climbing the ropes tied to the gym ceiling steel rafters. We didn't have a fancy ceiling. It was a proud day the first time making it to the top. It was also part of our wrestling practice.

I rode my bike without a helmet.
I drank water from the garden hose.
I ran around barefoot.
I walked to school by myself.
