Once with a couple rednecks like myself went to see Hank Jr in a gym out in the county.
We primed with a few drinks and headed out for the show.
There was a long line as most every biker for miles was there. I don't recall seeing a girl.
We just went to front and went in because we could. That was wrong, but ~~ ?
Inside the place was standing room only. Us 3 each had a bottle of Jack to drink from. My friends were top of the line tuff VN vets in great shape. We arrived in my VW Beatle.
The front band was loud and good. The place was on overflow testosterone.
A biker (in fun) ripped off my friend's cowboy hat, and it was on. Outlaw bikers are more into group intimidation than being capable as to "one on one".
The fight spread across the gym. All hell broke loose. Many County cops had been standing by and attacked.
Messing with country cops is always a bad idea.
I don't think Hank ever made the stage.

That’s a good story, but there’s no mention of pickup trucks or trains or mama or prison. Is there another chapter that you left out?
I’m older now. If I think that there’s a chance of fighting, bikers and law enforcement, then I’m not there.

That's me now also tugalooriver, I've gotten a bit too old, and it takes too long to get rid of soreness after a good scuffle, but back in the day I did enjoy a good throwdown

Changing subjects but are your helicopter birds (Humming birds) still there & sucking down the sugar water? Ours are in SAV.

My forebears lost it all in the the Depression and spent their days busting east Texas sod as itinerant farmers.
They didn't have anything but they had each other and that was plenty and when pushing came to shoving, they had each other's backs. And when the war came, they took their middle-school educated rednecks to the Pacific theater as Marines and Army infantrymen and whupped the empire of Japan.
And they came home and raised families and still worked in the sun and those rednecks are now the reason we have Hank, and others, in the first place.
