He transferred to Texas so he could develop into an NFL player. I guess he didn’t read the story about AJ Terrell signing the highest guaranteed money contract for a DB in the NFL. Mukuba simply took the money from Texas and ran.

to read the story about AJ Terrell signing his new contract 8 months after he transferred? Texas has placed plenty of good DB's in the NFL too, it's over, let it go, don't have sour grapes.

Yeah this doesn’t work, he transferred forever ago and that contract was just given.
Besides, yeah Texas has a better tradition of defensive backs than Clemson. At least throughout history up to this point.
But, Mukuba did give up on his team for materialistic reasons. That is not a good thing

Andrew is the one who didn't let it go. He made some veiled disrespectful comments about the Clemson Football program not pushing him hard enough. AJ Terrell is showing him how to push himself. GO TIGERS!

He said that he wasn't getting the coaching he wanted/needed from Clemson.
Big difference.
Regardless, Clemson fans need to move on. Mukuba has, and we should too.

He was butthurt and deflecting blame - big difference.
Though he is at top of the CB depth chart at UT - edging out a walk-on. Behind the walk-on is a one-time four star. I guess Texas has coaching issues.

Huh? I guess that UT could, but I would be eating no crow. I certainly said nothing of their chances to do that. Maybe if Mukuba wins the Heisman.
Your logic is odd.

He certainly discounted Nate Wiggins 1st round selection AND many of the great defenders Clemson has put in the pros. Mukuba's problems weren't the coaches, it was the man in the mirror.

Addition by Subtraction: Talented player but obviously not all in. He has threatened to transfer pretty much as soon as he got here. Not going to beat out Barnes and I'd rather have him gone and Mickens back than the other way around which would have happened if he stayed. He obviously doesn't have the mental makeup of a type of player that's going to win you championships. Can't imagine Wilkins, Boulware, or Ferrell saying my teammates or environment just aren't pushing me hard enough.

I love how you fans can speak for players when you’re wanting to put them down as soon as they leave Clemson, but you won’t dare criticize current players. He is not a cornerback. He is a safety being coached by Mickey Conn not Mike Reed so there may be validity to his point. You just won’t dare criticize Clemson‘s coaches, but since that kid doesn’t wear the tiger paw anymore, you will just say he’s all about the money even though he’s from the state of Texas 😂 you’re a joke

The truth is Andrew Mukuba would likely be the starter here again
Aug 22, 2024, 12:13 PM

but the number of snaps he got was likely to drop.
He knew he was going to see his playing time dimmish this season and that was probably going to hurt his draft stock. So when Texas came recruiting it just made sense to him to move on.
Of course he couldn't state the reality he was facing so he came up with the b.s. story about development.

1. AJ Terrell (CB) was coached by the great Mike Reed. Andrew Mukuba (Safety) was being coached by Mickey Conn.
2. I don't know if Coach Conn is a great developer of talent. His last draft picks were Tanner Muse and K'Von Wallace in 2020, so Mukuba may have a point. Let's see what he does with Covil, Griffin, Webb, Dixon, and Jones.
