It will be interesting who they hire next. If they get a new OC as well they may become relevant again.

Did you SEE all of those pre/early season ranks?

Easier to stay up there when you are overranked from the outset.

Have you seen the recruiting team rankings? 9 out of the top 15 classes per Rivals are SEC teams. The SEC isn't going down anytime soon.

but don't you still have to win to stay in the top ten all year and at be there the end? a little bit of a fallacy in your logic.

If you put 6 teams in the top 15 and those 6 teams play the rest of the conference the odds of at least 4 teams from the conference landing in the top 10 are very high. Florida was an overrated stepping stone for Mizzou on the way to the top 10.

This is why Louisville was too big a job for MOrris' first HC job. They have money from alum and basketball has done plenty for this school lately. paying a guy who many thought would be fired by UGA and giving him guaranteed 1 mil for 5 years
Did you see UGA defense this year?
one would use fact not emotion and say Richt probably had him searching for a job and who wouldn;t turn down 25% raise guaranteed for 5 years when on the hot seat
Lots of coaches encourage a coach to keep his eyes open rather than fire him when things aren't going well. I would say 40 plus points given up by Bama equaled Rumph heading out and several games with over 40 scored on UGA equaled the DB coach and DC being told to look around for work

things. I dont think Bobby is a wise hire. Then he wants to hire Steele (not wise) and Grantham (possibly not wise).
Having the money doesnt help you if you waste it on poor hires

in Petrino. Why would any asst. coach want to jump to Louisville with Petrino's history? Remember the Auburn search, jumping ship with the Falcons(grateful for that) and incident on the motorcycle. You got to have some integrity.

I have to agree. He was probably told to look for other jobs so they could part on a good note. UGA fans have been wanting him gone. And MR always changes his staff every few years to keep the pressure off himself. UGA fans want championships and that is something MR hasn't done a great job with.

Crazy how Mark Richt has them averaging 10 win seasons but they want him out. this isn't Bama or So Cal with high number national champs, this is UGA have they won one since 1980? Who are they to think MR isn;t good enough for them??
Sprinkle in a few SEC east champs and be happy sure a 5-7 season would be bad but come on clemson, UGA and definitely South CArolina are teams that 10 wins avg should be just peachy with a shot at the big one every few years.

Richt is back on the proverbial hot seat because he didn't win every championshiop available to the program. Doesn't matter that injuries torpedoed his team this year. If they have another 8-5 season, calls for his head will be at a fever pitch. And as with most head coaches, the fastest way to lower the volume on calls for his head will be to fire some assistant coaches.

He got a raise, that usually doesn't happen when a coach is being forced out by the university. Of course , math is not a Coot's strong point.

I would rather him be at UGA. We play FSU every year and this will hurt them. I don't think he really starts making a positive impact for UGA for at least another season.
But yeah, stupid and sad of you to find this and bring it up.

Pruitt to UGA
Mar 11, 2014, 12:15 PM
|
|
Fisher took a big chance on ALA's co-DB Coach Pruitt and it paid off for both of them last year.
Pruitt has always been a SEC guy and jumped at the opportunity to return to the SEC and join 2 of his very best friends at UGA (Bobo and Friend).
On the surface, Pruitt leaving FSU is a big loss to FSU, but the way he left without telling any of the coaches or players tells much about his character and the ugly politics of CFB. The current FSU players hope to have the opportunity to play against him, and that may occur next year as an OOC game.
I expect Pruitt to make a big impact on UGA's defense this year and in years to come, but that, and the impact on FSU this year remain to be seen.
Clemson should expect UGA's defense to be much improved in the opener. He is a very excellent X's and O's coach with the knack to make changes on the go during a game and particularly at halftime.
FSU is rooting for you to kick UGA's butt. Every CFB team is glad they don't begin with that challenge.
Good Luck, Tigers!
