Chickenlina Vs Clemson At Noon. So....We're Not A Main Eventer ---

I know many of you wanted a prime time night time fight for the world to see against Chickenlina. Lets face it ..we haven't shocked the world enough to earn that time slot. Especially when we are competing against other match-ups going on in other media proclaimed super conferences.
It is what it is...and our task is laid out in front of us. When we're feeling disrespected and up against the odds....just look around Death Valley and take full pride in what we've got. Realize that together we ain't no push-over.
So no matter the time of the challenge at hand .....when we're standing at the top of The Hill.....it kind of reminds me what ole' Jack Burton used to say. Ole Jack Burton would shrug his shoulders and would say ..."" What the he||. ""

The problem is if the game was in Columbia ESPN would have put it at night.***

They have Oklahoma and LSU going. Maybe that gets more fans to watch?

It is one of the most watched slots of the day…and it’s on ESPN. 🤷🏻♂️ I don’t know what the problem is with some of you all. Geesh.

I worked in television broadcasting. This is very simple, and you're absolutely wrong. Noon is literally the least watched time of the day for college football. The breakdown is this. The most watched slot of the day is prime-time. The second top slot is 3:30 pm. Noon is dead last. After that, Disney chooses which games to put on which channel based on perceived viewership. The most watched game nationally in a time slot will typically go on broadcast television (free TV), the second most on basic cable, and the less popular games on premium cable and streaming channels. This is distinct from the NFL which regionalizes games so fans can always see their local team for free.
Let's look at the Disney TV schedule for that week:
Primetime:
ABC (most watched game) - #3 Texas vs. #15 Texas A&M (Rivalry game with playoff implications between two top 15 teams). This will likely be the most watched game all week.
ESPN - Oklahoma vs. LSU - Two of the 10 largest fanbases in football. Only played each other a handful of times, with the national title on the line for those times. Second most watched game on Disney.
3:30 pm:
ABC: Auburn vs. Alabama - The Iron Bowl, one of the two most famous rivalries in college football (Ohio State Michigan being first). Two massive fanbases and this game always has sky high viewership.
ESPN - #9 Miami vs. Syracuse - Miami is obviously super big ticket right now, and this game has massive playoff implications right now. There are also some Heisman implications here. There's a lot of national interest and hype here.
12:00 pm:
ABC: Tennessee at Vandy - This is a game of regional interest. If you live outside the Southeast (and really Tennessee), you're not going to care very much about this game. They're not playing for anything and no player on either team is incredibly popular. That said, both teams have been very good this year and this is historically Vandy's best chance at a big upset in about 7 years.
ESPN: South Carolina at Clemson - Same as the Tennessee-Vandy game. It's a ranked matchup, but neither team is playing for anything of note. If you're a fan in Oregon or Michigan, you're not going to care anything about who wins the Palmetto Bowl. It will have higher viewership than games on premium cable or streaming, like Duke-Wake or Louisville-Kentucky, but it will be lowest of all these games.
That's why it's on at noon.

What about UF vs FSU? Who wants to watch that trainwreck? What's on the line for either of them?

That game will be on ESPN2. That's not broadcasting or basic cable for most people, you typically need the second-tier cable package for that game. So they agree with you. Of the premium cable games, it's the most popular, because Florida is a huge television market and this is a huge rivalry. That's why it's on at 7 while Cal-SMU (no one cares about that game and they are two tiny fan bases) is on earlier.

You are correct, didn't even know their was a Palemento bowl. It's right up there with a soup bowl and a salad bowl. So who plays in this palemento bowl?

Who woulda known? All those years with Michigan and Ohio State playing at noon and no ####### body was watching them, even though that game gets the highest ratings every season.

Just a joke for the newbies. The biggest game that day is at noon, UM and OSU. None of the other games come close to the viewers for that one. Last year, it got over double the viewers of the Alabama-Auburn game at 3:30. Other conferences have traditionally not played big games at noon, so as not to compete with the Big 10's noon game every week, but that has changed. OU and Texas played at noon last year.

Yeah nobody outside of the two fan bases cares about watching a couple of barely ranked mostly irrelevant teams play for the bragging rights in perhaps the worst football player producing state in the south. Not sure why our fans think any of that's worthy of prime time.
