I really can't believe how many people are saying clowney sucked last night. He was in the backfield all night. Their whole gameplan was to keep away from him. Makes it much easier for ward and the rest of the defense when the opposing offense has to gameplan for one player.

shape de, who got in the backfield when the o-line scheme was to miss him, and attack elsewhere, or the play was going to the other side, and the lt was 1/2 ashing it. 3 tackles and no sacks , from the supposed best player in cfb, come on.

Yeah he got into the backfield a lot on those plays. Which was almost all unc ran. Kind of my point. If everyone is going to be that aware of him it is going to make it hard for him to rack up stats but easier for our defense as a whole to defend the opposing offense. Clowney was very explosive last night even when it was apparent he was tired. unc had just decided they were not going to give him chances for big plays.

have got it bad. every time an opposing team runs a quick hitter, be it pass or run you are going to say it's because of doo-doo. what explosiveness did you see. please enlighten me, for every 1 ,in particular, tell me,and i'll give you 3 where he was a non-factor. pretty good he can even hide his , uh, stomach virus, from the coaching staff. if you saw the interview where he said that, you could also see he was bs'ing. watch it again.

Didn't see interview because I was on the way home from the game. Where I watched clowney nearly every snap. He was beating his guys with ease but they kept everything way from him. I will admit they got him a couple of times on counters where he got too far upfield and they rb got inside him. He had a huge impact on that game whether you want to believe it or not. The entire unc offensive gameplan was to stay away from clowney.

really doesn't matter. Clowney cannot live up to the expectations that everyone has set for him.
Nobody could.

This. He would have to average 4 or 5 sacks a game to live up to the hype. He got sucked out if place on a few plays. He was rarely blocked. No player is going to rack up sacks when the other team throws quick hitters, screens, or rolls away from him every play.

You do realize on almost every single one of those plays they are designed for the DL to get up the field. UNC wants that with the short passes they throw to make the Dlineman a nonfactor once the ball is caught. Clowney was owned pretty much the entire night. Not really his fault as he was up against a legit first round offensive tackle who is just better with technique and football iq than Clowney but Clowney needs to get his tail out there and work on his conditioning. That was absolutely pathetic. He played about six plays in the first quarter and was still completely winded. He should be removed from the Heisman talks completely after that game. He went up against probably the best tackle he'll see this year and did squat. Players should be judged on what they do against their best competition. Sure UNC sucks but Hurst is a beast. Clowney did nothing. UNC wanted him getting up the field. Some of you need to learn the game of football.
