It should be #1! Without it, the list is bogus.

You can say that again ! If a school's " tradition " can be less than 4 years established then I would like to vote we withdraw ours in protest lest it be sullied by this ridiculous notion .

Yeah, I can see that then! Not enough longevity! I would have still put it before the turnover chain. LOL!

That really is a good one, despite it being relatively new. The Turnover Chain is way-too-new and way-too-cheesy I must say.

You know, it's funny how your perspectives change...
My brother was a member of the football staff at Liberty U for 17 years, through 4 coaching administrations, personal friend with Coach Streeter from his time there, loved his job...but one of the best aspects of his job was being home for Thanksgiving, 15 times in 17 years.
LU was FCS for 16 of those years, and only once made the playoffs. Of course, that year, the whole program was super-excited--except the coaches' wives. Their husbands were barely home long enough to eat dinner!
Then in 2018 the Flames moved up to FBS. Now that they're playing with the big boys, the regular season doesn't end until after Thanksgiving--every year.
I wonder if that's one of the reasons he stepped down this year?

Rubbing Howard's rock was named the #2 best tradition in all of college football. FANTASTIC!!! The year 1967 when the rock was put at the top of the hill, I was one of the original players to rub it before the game with Wake Forest. At the time we dressed up the street in the old field house and walked down and entered the stadium thru the double gates under the scoreboard. At the time none of us ever knew we would be starting a tradition by rubbing the rock!!!!

One tradition I really want to go see in person is Va Tech entering to Enter Sandman. Way more impressive than the turnover chain.

Than any other entrance! She is 1300 lbs. and reaches speeds of 25-30 mph. They cannot use a Male Buffalo because they are considerably bigger, faster and more aggressive.

The turnover chain is a joke. I can think of many better traditions. As much as I dislike FSU their flaming spear entrance and the tomahawk chop (ok maybe the Braves are influencing me here) are both better than the turnover chain. Spelling C-L-E-M-S-O-N after a third down stop or score is way better than the chain. Shoot - the doggone UGA fans barking is better than the chain. That was ridiculous.

I agree. Iowa wave to the children's hospital should have made this over the "turnover chain"! And, the time between the 3rd and 4th qtr at Wisconsin when they play jump around and the fans go nuts should have been on the list.

The Stanford band and their crazy outfits is also a kind of cool one. They take a very casual approach to the usual garb; which by the looks is a lot more up tight and formal!

I remember when va tech used to do the same thing with their band. Ordered chaos. They run onto the field and roll around and flip and all sorts of funny stuff. Not sure it counts as a tradition but was amusing.

And honorary mention - how did a chicken breaking out a shower while being doused by a fire extinguisher get left of the list?

The Rock got beat out by a wagon for #1? A wagon? Who wants a mascot that is A) Inanimate, B) has to be pulled everywhere it goes, and C) its greatest achievement is staring for days on end at a couple of mule butts as it's being illegally dragged across a prairie?
Wagons suck
Big wagons suck more
Big wagons in Oklahoma suck the most; maybe that's why the wind blows so much in Texas
