1) Aren't there 11 starters on defense? 2) who are you again?

So you didn't mean we return 7 of 8 starters?

You meant 7 to 8 starters. In that case, accept my apology. You are indeed smarter than you look.

We will have more talent on both sides the ball than every team we play except FSU. FSU is going to be loaded next season but at home we can beat them. One thing is for sure we will have an elite D and O Line next season. Maybe the best in the nation and that's what wins games, the big uglys.

please explain why this O Line will be 'elite' next year

yes we bring back 4 starters
but those 4 basically could not establish any run game consistently
in our biggest games this year.
also, I expect Simpson to move beyond Hearn
and Morris to keep pushing Crowder.
what say you?

They will be a good unit next season. I seen them blow Bama up more than a few times and nobody is going to run much on a D like that. Watch the Gallman TD and you will see what we will get next season. We will have great line play next season. They got a lot better at the end of the season and will be better a year older.

the Gallman TD was a 2-on-1 block for crying-out-loud,

Bama got pressure bringing only 4 all night long,
ended up with 4 sacks,
and including sacks we averaged barely 2 ypc.
But it's not the Championship game that's the tell -
rushing yards per game were down about 50 yards this year from 2015.
This may be an 'experienced' O-Line next year
but they're going to have to improve quite a bit to even be 'above-average'.

A lot of the rushing problems were because every team we played stacked the box and DW didn't run near as much this season. As far as giving time to pass the ball our o-line did pretty decent this year.

Alabama has elite everything on defense. Yes they got after Watson through most of the game. But the O line has been great this year especially in pass protection. We were near the top as far as sacks allowed. Look at our last 2 drives against Bama. They didn't get that close to Watson and he has time to find receivers down the field. Plus most teams were adamant about stopping our run game this year coupled with playing some of the best run defenses in the country (BC, Pitt, Louisville, FSU, Ohio St, Alabama, Auburn).

and it seemed that an inordinate amount of rives that he played in
also ended up in scores.
It just seemed to work out that way.
That's an impression only though; I've done no research.

I'm just say on the lines we will be good to go. If we can get serviceable QB play it's not out of the question that we can be in that top 4 again. There are not many teams with the talent we have coming back. 10-2 is the worst and back to the CFP is possible

Fallcienelli(sp) turns out to be a great center. The rest of the OL will be another year older, more mature, more experienced, and will have another year in the weight room. I think if the C position is a strong we will have an elite OL. We did have our issues this year, but I see them improving.

everyone has the right to an opinion, for sure

but I think people are basking a little too deep in the glow of the Natty
when they start expecting next year's team to do anything but
starting the growth cycle all over again.
No one starts at Center for their first year and is 'elite'.
Renfrow and Cain are ballers, but Ray Ray has a lot to prove at WR - a lot.
We have no TE that has as much as 2 career catches,
Whatever QB we play will be starting their very first game - very first.
And then there's an OL that simply cannot get 3rd-and-1 consistently -
a problem Clemson has had for years with the sole exception being 2015.
This O is talented but will be almost wholly inexperienced.
Any more than 9 wins is simply not a fair expectation in my view.
People should be expecting Top 15 - not CFP.
IMHO of course.

The only team that we play next season that's has the talent we do is FSU. I was kinda worried about VT but losing Evans makes them very beatable. Auburn at home will be tough but they lose a lot on D. Louisville they lose everybody Lamar will be a joke next year.

area outside of RB, QB, and TE. I think the D will be better. I think the OL will be better. To me our season will come down to our QB.

other than maybe FSU... maybe, and we have them at home. I agree, tho, the big ? is the QB maturation... +1.

We have DW4 all kinds of time in the second half to throw against the best front 7 in the country.... our pass blocking will be elite.
One point of contention with that proclamation is the blocking of Wayne was outstanding so we do need our RB to fill his shoes there as well.
I do think we should improve at RB just due to cohesiveness, experience, and improved depth. Maybe not elite in RB but if we improve a little here and maintain or improve a little in pass blocking our offense is going to HUM!
Our Def is going to give our offense A TON of opportunities every game!
