Thank you. She was the victim of domestic violence at the hands of her boyfriend. A lot of good came of her passing as the 13th circuit solicitor worked with us and Gov Haley’s commission on DV to get some of the mandatory DV laws now on the books in SC.

I'm deeply saddened to hear of the loss of your daughter bc I know from experience how you feel every day that you wake up and your first thoughts are of your child that's no longer with you, and there is nothing that can sooth that pain, not even time. I think about the what if's that maybe I could have done that would have saved my daughter, but there was no way I could have known she was having a pancreatic attack at the time that it was killing her, but I still have a sense of guilt that I didn't know bc I'm her father and I was supposed to have protected her when she was in trouble. I know that I shouldn't feel that way, but I do, she was my baby daughter, and I miss her more and more as each day passes without her. I've heard all my life that a parent shouldn't live longer than our children, and we really shouldn't bc that pain is sometimes more than we believe we can bare.

You are exactly right in your assessment. I had a friend who lost a son to an overdose a couple of weeks ago. He asked me if you ever get over it. I said no, you just learn to live with it. It leaves an empty hole that nothing can fill. Our faith has sustained us and given us hope. Her siblings have suffered terribly too. Even all these years later, some days it doesn’t seem real.

24th birthday. I am so sorry for the tragic loss of your daughter. I can only imagine the emotions felt to lose her in such a tragic senseless way. All you can do is move forward as ‘moving on’ is impossible. Faith in Christ and the sure hope of seeing him again in heaven brings some peace, otherwise it would be unbearable. My heart hurts for anyone who has lost a child.
There are usually always ‘what if’s’ in a death as in our case, but all we can do is trust that God is sovereign.

That story is crazy. She was killed on LSU campus when her car was T-boned by a motorcycle and the fire couldn't be put out. Sounds like both died. How fast was that motorcycle going on campus?
