slowly but surely owning the sport of football again all due to the pay for play(portal and Nil). The national media of course supports those that do things the wrong way. (Biden)

I honestly have no problem with student-athletes monetizing on their name, image, and likeness.
The issue I do have is that, in its current form, NIL is largely unregulated and subject to malfeasance.

I agree that our players deserve something. The issue is, as you say, currently it’s totally based on pay for play. There is nothing to prevent schools and boosters from buying recruits. It’s happening right now.

I agree with Deion Sanders on the NIL. He said it should be legitimate companies paying for real advertising, the collectives should be illegal.

These collectives could easily stand up a front.

Wow, fake news is alive and well. NIL is an opportunity for young men and women to earn some money and is a law. I read today there have been over 40,000 athletes in the Portal this year and it is completely legal. Enjoy the football, nothing has changed and it will be another great season.

Currently boosters are buying recruits. If we’re going there we need drafts instead of recruiting. Salary caps. Player unions. Etc. what we have now is NOT working and will not work

Well thats not how the NFL handles NIL, they dont cap how many subway commercials or hulu commercials a player can make money from. A salary cap is what teams are limited to paying their roster, not what a player can make with their Name Image or Likeness.

So are you crowd funding to get a player to play for the Panthers or your favorite NFL team.
There are rules and contracts in the NFL. These prevent tampering and a player cannot just transfer.
NFL understands the importance of parity where each team has more or less equal opportunity. Has it ever been equal in CFB. For many schools it has been more or less equal. (there too many teams in D1 that have no business at this level). This now seems to be alienating about 40 teams that could pop up and have really good teams every 3 to 4 years. What does this all mean? If your team never has a shot, you stop watching. CFB will lose allot of fans if something is not done and the game and those precious TV deals will go away.
Our Tigers are in that realm that will not be able to compete over the long haul due to alumni base etc.

I see what youre saying, just dont know how a salary cap would help or be lawful. So the NCAA going to tell guys they cant make more than x amount a year from NIL? Still wont help bc there are teams that will undoubtedly have boosters willing to max out as many players as they can and many other teams that wont have that capability.
Im with you on something needs to change but how do you fix this? Its like pandoras box

NFL NIL is legitimate advertising. The collectives are just pure pay for play.

Yep it's pro ball with no salary cap. And far fewer restrictions when it comes free agency.

Just curious, but why should professional (NIL, portal) players receive scholarships beyond need or academic based financial aid same as other students? And why should they even qualify for admission if they don't meet the same academic standards as the general student body. Maybe the term student-athlete is no longer appropriate. Sad.
