The biggest problem on Saturday

The biggest problem from Saturday was not the play-calling. It was not the poor QB and O-line play. It wasn't the turnovers, dropped passes, or anything else happening on the field. The biggest problem was the mostly empty stadium in the fourth quarter when the game was very much still in doubt. This picture was taken from a professional troll that hosts a show for our rival in Columbia. His post was mocking us for leaving the game early since we frequently trash their fans for doing the same thing. Unfortunately, there's no way to refute him this time.

Yes the play on the field was poor. Yes the wind was making it cold. However, there is simply no excuse to abandon the team, especially the defense, when the game is that close. I was there and was disgusted with the amount of fans filing out of the stadium at the exact time that the defense needed us to be the loudest.

I grew up 15 minutes from the stadium and rarely was fortunate enough to attend a game. My family and thousands of others live within shouting distance and cannot afford to attend the games, although they would love to. If you can’t burden yourself enough to stay for all 4 quarters of the game, ESPECIALLY when the game is that close, then you should consider giving your tickets to the fans that will.

The more we play like that, the worse it's gonna get.

People put a lot of time and money into this, and the current version of Clemson Football is a messy ########.

An empty stadium is how fans protest their own team when they're getting blown out. Last time I checked, we won the game.

we're spoiled rotten.

I know, and feel, exactly how you feel but that doesn't justify having NCships and 12-15 win season being the standard for any team. It's not sustainable.

The only difference between us is that I know I'm wrong to expect the hot mess we endured with DJ to be over in half a season. Cade lost playing time last season which is something our backups always got with DW and TL. He didn't get any practice with the 1st teamers last season and he hasn't matured yet.

It's coming.

Um, yes, and to make

Things worse most of the people that left were alumni or family since it was homecoming and since Clemson doesn't give free tickets to "ride or die" fans or bandwagoners I think they can leave whenever the heck they want. Especially if the players performance isn't up to par with a semi amateur paid college athlete who's also getting a free scholly. Lol. They better just be glad people come

Not to make excuses, but it does look like most of the gaps are in the upper deck. If you didn't dress properly, I could see where the wind in the upper deck with cooler temps would have made it pretty uncomfortable. Unfortunately, you have nothing to block the wind in the upper deck so you are fully exposed.

I was in the upper deck and yes, it was cold. But is this not the same fan base that stood in the remnants of a hurricane for 4 quarters of the ND game? Yeah I know WF isn't remotely the same caliber of team as ND, but still I don't see how that is a viable reason to leave a close game. If you watched the news or checked the weather forecast at any point last week, you knew that the temperature was going to fall drastically and the wind was going to pick up on Saturday.

Yes, at that time we were ascending but now we seem to be declining. There is a difference in the excitement. Many of the Johnny come latelys will only come to see you win and blow other teams away.

Fans leave every single game for various reasons...........if one of those reasons is because the play on the field sucks...............then BE BETTER!!

Leaving the game, or not showing up at all is the only recourse fans have to get something to change. That is how they show their displeasure in hopes that if the powers that be see the empty seats and hear the boos then change will happen.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We do not need any change

This is not a Ken Hatfield situation. We have one of the best coaches in the country and one of the best overall programs in the country. People just need to shut up and stop whining. Not going to be perfect every Saturday. Never will be.

They all had to rush back to the tailgate

and finish getting blasted. If you buy a ticket, you can go to the game when you want to and leave when you want to. But I do not understand why people spend all of that money and leave a one-score game in the fourth quarter. That's a bad look.

Some of the people probably wanted to beat the traffic..the ones that don’t live 15 min from the stadium..the ones that live hours from the stadium…I see your point and see theirs too.. my dad is 80 and leaves every home game early 4th quarter for his 2.5 hour ride home,

It looked like more than than the normal early crowd leaving..

Your answer is a new generation of fans. The younger generation gets their fun tailgating and drinking. What made the Clemson fan base respected across the nation was the older generation. Many of the older generation is no longer able to come due to health reasons and being priced out.
