in Rock Hill after lying unresponsive for 15 days. The nurse had pronounced him dead the first night he was there and my brother called me to say he was gone but a few minutes after we finished talking, he called back to say that Dad started breathing again. How he lasted another 14 days without an IV and no food or water is hard to fathom. Those guys from the Greatest Generation were tough old guys!

went through Hospice w my mom last year. I found all the hospice people to be incredibly sensitive, caring, and helpful. They are truly angels who walk among us.

May GOD give you peace on this day. My dad passed away 07May24. A tough 93 year veteran. He too was in home hospice care. Passed peacefully with some slow breaths. You are correct ... a great generation !!! Be blessed.

Your father was just wrapping up some unfinished business before he left. He'll tell you about it one day.

That did buy me some time to be by his side when he passed instead of being over 100 miles away.

Tried to give you a caring award, but in cell I can't seem to award people. All I use is cell. Anyway, I see my Mom getting old and that type of stuff scares the heck out of me.

In a few hours. I practiced it 3 times last night and couldn't get through it. Hopefully, I can get in the zone. Yes, that generation was some tough SOBs...

Prayers that you handle it well. I don't know how people make it through those - I don't do funeral services well, even when I am not close to the departed. When it involves military honors and Taps, I lose it.

Father in law. He taught me all the gaps my own dad didn't know. He was great. I know he's hanging with my Mama and our other people, just waiting on us. It's gonna be great day when we all get there

father-in-law than the one I got. His passing just adds credence to the often quoted "sixth sense" some have about their impending death, and sending their loved ones away to have them avoid seeing it. Dad2 sent my wife, son, and Ma-in-law all to the grocery store to get some item or other. When they got back twenty minutes later, they found him dead on the bathroom floor, of a massive heart attack. They frantically called me at work, and I got there in less than ten minutes, about the time the EMTs did. I remember my youngest son, who was only six at the time, had laid down on the floor next to his grandfather, thinking he was only asleep. He was a good man, and a great father and grandfather.

They definitely were tough as nails. My Dad was born in 1925 and he was not a big guy but he was wiry and tough. He’s been gone since 1989 but it seems like forever.

That was way too young - my dad made it to 88 and was able to come down to hunt with me until he was 80. He got a 10 pointer that weighed 220 from the spot you sat the first day you came down.

That’s great! The only hunting I did with my dad was squirrel hunting when I was a kid. We did a lot of fishing in the creeks around Johns Island. He loved to fish. And yes, he was way too young when he passed. That’s what smoking cigarettes will do to you.

Hey my friend. Dad passed in 05. He walked onto Omaha Beach 3 days after D-Day. My Dad probably knew your Dad. God Bless you my friend.

They most likely did know each other, living 3 or 5 miles apart
