Teams With Most Players Leaving via the Portal

If you want to become a sloppysecond, these are the schools you should go to. Crazy how the SEC overrecruits and then tosses players to the street.

This is an interesting list, thank you for sharing. I am surprised that Colorado is not on that list. I know Coach Prime "cleaned house," so I thought a lot of the Buffaloes would be in the transfer portal.

I think the list is based on ranked players and Colorado was pretty thin there.

He had 47 tranders and SDSU had 20-something, so there has to be some caveat to this list? There are several with more than 8.

Yes, it's just players ranked in the Top247...

a friend this would be the FIRST stat you would look at for suitability of a school.

See that the ‘Shane Train’ got special mention as “although the coots (sic) aren’t losing a lot of players, they are losing two that had the highest offensive grades last year …” and 1200+ yards of offensive production.

Recognized quite a few names of guys we tried to get. Guess I can’t say 1) disappointed we didn’t get them, or 2) that we didn’t pick them up off the portal.

Interesting stuff morbid, thanks for the share.

I see no problem with UGA and Alabama methods. Bring in the numbers and let them fight it out Hunger Games style. For top ranked programs probably the norm these days - probably the norm previously but transfer portal makes tracking that much easier. If it works for them over and extended period of time - and it seems it does - then good for them if they are transparent with the athletes during the recruitment wine and dine.

Oh, of course they are totally “transparent” w/ recruits.

Of course they are …

And why wouldn’t a recruit (or his parents) absolutely be on board with getting involved with to “Hunger Games” scenario standing in fo the college experience?

Sounds perfectly natural, and totally appealing.

Or perhaps you’re offering up an imagined theme rather than a supportable fact.

It’s an internet message board. Facts play no part of the equation. I has no proof just opinion. Just like you Mr Flickerman.

From a transparency perspective - one can observe that what's past is prologue. If they chose not to “trust but verify” the recruiters statements - there is nothing else that can be done. Besides, I don’t think tributes at UGA or Alabama are turned off by the Hunger Games attitude. After all, I’m sure they all feel like they grade a 12. UGA and Alabama and most likely many others can choose to run their Districts in this manner. It works for them, their recruits, and their fan base.

I far prefer Dabo and staff’s methods over those put forth by the Sabans, Smarts, and Snows of the world. If I want to pull for a pro team, I have the Miami Dolphins. I hope that Clemson never emulates these schools.

LOL. However, I still recall your profound words of wisdom. They sort of stuck with me. Now you have a nice rest of your day, okay.

Regarding UoSC, 1) I didn't even know Jordan Burch

1

Jun 26, 2023, 10:03 AM

transferred. That's funny. What a drama that was when he picked the Gamecocks.

2) Looking at that list, my guess is if you framed it as "% of Top247 players that transferred", UofSC would be at the top of the list. They probably don't have nearly as many Top247 players as those other programs (maybe Ole Miss).

These teams are basically operating off the professional model where they bring in more guys than they have spots for and then cut whoever isn't gonna make it. In college they aren't "cut" they are forced into the portal. Can't blame them as long as they continue to sign the best classes every season.

You can't blame them for acting like a minor league professional team when they are supposed to be a university?

Do you think they tell the recruits that if they get hurt or don't perform or get outrecruited they will be forced to leave?

Jun 27, 2023, 10:36 AM

Well I don't think its right, obviously, but they still have the best recruiting classes every year so I guess recruits are either too dumb or too money hungry for that sweet NIL deal to think it would ever happen to them. If they were seeing a negative impact on their recruiting and/or on field performance they'd change their ways but until then......
