TAMU concerns
Jun 30, 2018, 5:10 PM
|
|
I’ve been looking into them some this offseason and I’m a bit concerned about a few things: 1) Jimbo is a good coach, like it or not 2) they have 19 starters returning 3) J. Sternberger (TE) will be a big factor in the pro-style offense and that could be problematic 4) T. Williams (RB) is poised for a big season
Anyone else thinking along these lines? Or is it a consensus that it’s going to be a blowout with Chase Brice taken the majority of the snaps in the 4th?

1. Dabo > Jimbo, and it's not even close. 2. Our starters have lost, at most 4 games their entire career. Their returning starters lost 6 last year alone. 3. Simmons at SAM will handle their TE. 4. It's hard to run behind a line that's getting blown off the ball consistently.
We win 34-14 with 7 of their points coming in garbage time.

Coots only focus on one lucky five year span and ignore the other 100+ years, so it’s kinda ironic seeing an idiot coot fuss about focusing on one game. Even though the aluminum bleachers are a common motif in the third quarter. Not just one game, of course.

So a team whose seniors have only lost 1 regular season road game their entire career (with the starting QB getting injured) is all the sudden going to be rattled? That makes total sense. I would love to be your bookie, please give me one football reason why A&M is 14 points better than Clemson.

Because you are playing on the road in a place you haven’t played in years with some of the most bat$hit fans in all of football. It’s like a cult there, and it’s going to be an extremely tough environment. You lost a lot of key playmakers from last season too.

For sure we won’t be ready for that environment. It’s loud and the fans are crazy... can’t imagine pressure like that. It’s probably pressure similar to conference championships, playoff games, national championships, top 10 road games.
Hey SCar grad you keep posting about its 12 games and not 1. Can you help me with Clemson’s record last say 5 years along with road record, and heck why not throw in night game record for fun. I’ll save you some time, it’s quite good.

Our D is too good to give up 35 points. Our O may struggle and it be a close low scoring game. I could see that happening possible but we will not be rattled by their crowd. I respect them and agree that they have a big and crazy crowd on gameday but we have been to Auburn, VT, FSU, Usuck, as well as other in the past few seasons and have won. A big crowd can be tough but if any team knows how to play in that kind of environment it is ours.

CarolinaGrad is correct on two points: Yes, Kyle Field is loud and their crowd will bring it, second TAMU will score, but his entire line of thinking is BASED UPON? Answer: How his chickens have lost there continuously!!
This game will not be easy for Clemson. It will come down to our depth versus theirs, mistakes and turnovers and obviously field position throughout.
Final prediction: Tigers 38 TAMU 24

Welp, there's that input. It's a loud place and the fans are, um fan-like.
The Clemson Tigers never play anywhere loud, and never have to deal with obnoxious, bottle-throwing fans, so I guess we should forfeit.
Seriously, here are the games that concern me, in order of most concerning to least:
1) The NC game 2) The playoff game 3) FSU at Doak 4) The Conference game against a likely woke Miami 5) BC at BC. It's never easy and we'll be ripe for a fluke tied 5) A&M at A&M
6) Everybody else except Furman and the chickens
7) Furman and the chickens

I hope you're a gambler. Putting your money where your mouth is helps prove the earnestness of your words. Do you believe in your heart what you're saying?
Clemson will be favored to win by 2 TDs against TAMU. You think they'll lose by 2 TDs. You believe Las Vegas' professional odds-makers are off by 4 TDs. What a wonderful opportunity for you to win a lot of money!
But, we all know you're just trolling. And every time you do it, it's like adding a little more water to your already watered-down opinion. I don't begrudge you for coming to TNET and having a little fun poking at the natives. But your constant poking and uninspiring posts are weak and getting weaker. Honestly, I don't know how you can enjoy looking so foolish knowing that everyone that sees you kind of rolls their eyes and then yawns.
Anyway... good luck in Vegas.

TAM and Kyle Field. Great traditions. Awesome fans. No louder than any other stadium.
TAM only beats us by 14 if they are spotted 14 points prior to us walking in the stadium. Their an average team when playing their best.
Jimbo can recruit, but he can't coach. FSU was really better than the sum of the parts.

in two games against Clemson. The OL, seeking major improvements from personnel with big question marks, returns one starter. Reality isn't your strong suit, is it Chick-a-dee?
Brand new coaching staff there, even Defensive Co-ordinator. Last years team gave up 35 points a game. If you want a mulligan, I will allow you to flip the score or your winner declared.
Has anybody told you that if it wasn't for your stupidity, that you would have no personality at all? Come back tomorrow, I have openings forasskickings from 315pm-330pm.

Clemson is used to playing in hostile environments. No these guys have never played TAM at home but at the end of the day it is football and talent will prevail. Top to bottom Clemson’s talent is better than TAM’s talent and usually home field is worth 7-10 points. Jimbo will just be implementing his style Offense with a team used to a totally different style of play. How this goes over is yet to be seen as well. This is all speculation at this point except for the fact that Clemson’s talent is superior to TAM’s. Clemson by 2 TDs

He won 10 games and made the ACCCG in his first season. They won 9 in 2011 with some QB injury problems and then went 12-2 and won the ACC in 2012 with EJ Manuel.
They weren't exactly bad in 2015 or 2016 either. 2016 team was top 10. It wasn't really until last year that things really came unraveled and Jimbo stunk.

Than he gets on this board. FSU was a train wreck before he took over the offesne.
He has a knack for keeping defesnes off balance and creating big plays. I think he's a pretty good offensive mind.
That said, his system probably won't be humming until next season. Who knows what kind of qb play he'll get this year.

I also dont expect the A&M offense to be very good at that point in the season. They've struggled at the QB position for a few years now and I dont think that's going to change before we play them. Mond and Starkel dont exactly make me shake in my boots and Jimbos offense is notoriously difficult for QBs to learn and run effectively.
