I was watching some of the highlights from the game yesterday and I got to looking around the outfield at Cal's baseball stadium. This is very much my opinion obviously but it's not easy on the eyes. I decided to look up some pictures of the entire "stadium" (if you can call it that). It reminded me of Anderson Universities baseball stadium in terms of size. I don't bring this up to be disrespectful but objectively this isn't a nice D1 Stadium unless the sun hits it just right for some Instagram pictures. I know it's Cal but jeez.... Anyways, I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts on this was about their stadium?

It’s garbage. Grass is cooked. It’s just ugly. What’s worse is Stanford’s softball stadium packed into their football field. I guess when you give universal income state schools get no funding. SMH Go woke go broke. Just a fact.

I don't think Stanford is a public school. They have tons of money, but doubt they'd want to put it into sports

Stanford is private, and they have a huge endowment.

They also care a lot about sports. I believe they have more national championships than anyone.

Just a note: Stanford is playing softball in their football stadium because they have a $38M renovation of their softball stadium/facility underway. So yes they do have money and yes it’s getting used.

Thanks, was about to post this when I saw yours. Their new facility is going to be tops in the acc. I love what FSU’s done with theirs. McWhorter is ok. Like the berm etc. But I don't like the design. Looks like we cheaped out on the architecture. We should have gone with brick like fsu. Matched the same motif as tiger walk.

Stanford has an endowment of almost $38 billion.
Cal has an endowment of $3.2 billion.
Clemson has an endowment of $1.1 billion.
Stanford is a private university. If you've ever been to Stanford you immediately know they have money.
This is an area where "size matters" and Clemson is relatively small compared to the rest of the ACC. The development office at Clemson has recognized there are a lot of graduates who relocate outside of the south and now have (for the 1st time) a person located in the mid-west and on the west coast to assist with fundraising efforts.

As of June 30, 2024, UC Berkeley's endowment stands at $6.95 billion. Are your figures after the Tariff market crash?

LOL...probably not!!!
I thought the number for Cal seemed low but I just quickly googled it and found that. Thx for the correction!!
Anecdotal story: I have 2 close friends here. His father was a long-time professor at Cal. He died about 20 years ago but they proudly tell this story. One day in the mail he received a check made out to him, not to Cal. He didn't have on his glasses but he saw that it was for $1000. He stuck it in his pocket. When he got home, he handed it to his wife. She told him it wasn't for $1000 but rather for $1 million. They did some checking and indeed the check was valid. He donated it back to the university to endow a professorship in Anthropology.

We're talking about Cal, not Stanford. You're trying to defend a school we're not even talking about.

i think Cal has a lot of money. Obviously one of the top universities in the world. I guess they just are not going to spend money on a baseball stadium right now. Luckily, our boys dont play spoiled, they just play to win.

Cal doesn't have nice facilities. Stanford does. Smaller but nice. As far as a joke, I went to a Lehigh vs Lafayette game last year. What a joke. My kid plays on better rec fields in little league. It's amazing what passes for "D1 facilities" in certain places. Clemson facilities should be and are a source of pride.
