I realize you’re trolling, but if you’re interested, I’ll explain
Dabo has always committed to a recruit 100% for 4 years. He has stated that if he misses on a recruit, that’s on him. As long as the recruit remains in good standing, he doesn’t run him off like some programs
Because of the program, the PAW journey, the development as men, the coaches, and our beautiful campus, a lot of guys stay the full 4 years, even if they have other options
Like everyone, we have missed on recruits, but for the most part, we get what we need
Because we are a smaller school and we don’t have the financial resources to buy recruits (it’s legal now) our niche is to scout properly, only offer the guys we want and not everyone with a pulse, treat the players well and stay committed to the guys who truly commit to us
Dabo will use the portal when it’s appropriate and we have a need and find a fit. Not everyone we would like to come here wants what we have to offer
I firmly believe that using the portal and running off people we commit to would ultimately do more harm than good.

So what you're saying is Dabo is gonna whine and cry about the portal, pretend to be some kind of saint that has better standards than to play the game, but then use it when he needs it?
If these coaches want to be a hard ### about the portal, they need to give up their 10 million dollar salaries and go teach study hall and coach high school ball for $50,000 a year.
I'm sure if a blue blood program comes calling on Beamer in a few years he'll forget all about his standard of loyalty.

And salary has nothing to do with it. You are worth what someone is willing to pay. I would bet Dabo gives away more than you or I make in a year

I understand your response but I'm not sure what point you were trying to make.
This is about a coach not allowing a player to be rewarded along with his teammates by playing in a bowl game because he decides to enter the transfer portal.
You've got two sides of the coin with this. You've got some coaches who want them to stick around and finish out the season, and you've got others who get offended and tell them not to let the door hit them in the rear on the way out...
And their salaries are relevant because these coaches are making MILLIONS off the backs of these players who bust their ### everyday in practice for them.

My point was to explain what I’ve heard Dabo state about the portal and transfers because this article was about Beamer and you lumped him in with Dabo. I’m glad the players can do what they feel is best If they want to leave, they can leave, but if they’re on the way out, why give be up playing and practice time to the guys who are still here or will be here next year
As to the money, I would love to have had all the benefits and my school paid for. There are less than 150 players that will make the pros and there are over 11,000 that graduate every year with some or all of their tuition paid for. I think it’s disingenuous to use the extreme to state that these players are being used

But I’m assuming 1) you have never played a TEAM sport (and if you did you didn’t play much), and 2) never coached a team sport at a level beyond Rec ball… if you had, you would understand their position on not playing a player who has 1 foot out the door.

The double standard amazes me for players vs. coaches.
I guess we should have told Venables, Jeff Scott, and Tony Elliot to go ahead and take a hike for entertaining job offers while they were coordinators here.
You could argue that a player who is considering a transfer but wants to finish the season with his team IS being a TEAM player.

Personally I think he’s showing humility by letting them finish out the season with their teammates while doing what’s best for theirselves.
Bottom line is Dabo and beamer are both sore because they want to go somewhere else and they are losing depth on the roster for next year.
