Spurrier' Comment?

Nov 16, 2014, 10:23 PM

I never heard what he actually said about Clemson, Watson, or whatever? Could someone post it or link it? Very curious to hear what the OBS had to say.

Something like

"I guess the upstate team lost today"

Well, on that one, he was right.***

Here is a link to the video of his comments.

I posted last night, but didn't really get very far with much of your fan base so I know many are going to believe whatever they want regardless.

As a SC fan, I wish Spurrier had not brought up Clemson at all. I don't like it that he does that. I don't try and defend it.

But I don't see how anyone who watches this video can think that he was taking a shot at DeShaun Watson.

Only reason he got cocky all of a sudden is

Nov 16, 2014, 10:30 PM

Because he didnt think he would have to deal with Watson, so yeah, It was definitely a shot

Here's the problem.

Nov 16, 2014, 10:31 PM [ in reply to Re: Spurrier' Comment? ]

He may not have been taking a direct shot at Watson, but the "Oh, he got hurt again? What was the score?" is what's making a lot of people mad.

No "Did he? Man, I hate to hear that". No "That's a shame, always hate to hear about a kid getting hurt."

He just shrugged it off so he could continue his little potshot at Clemson. That's what's annoying.

As a Tiger I was pissed when I heard he took a shot at us and Deshaun but after watching the video it was clear that he wasn't trying to say anything negative about Deshaun. He was just taking the opportunity to point out the fact that we lost. He's a POS but not a big enough one to make fun of an injured kid.

Thank you MusicCityTiger24!!!!!!!!!

Thank you!!!!!

Look, I am a SC fan and I don't like it when Spurrier brings up Clemson. I wish he hadn't yesterday. It isn't something I defend at all.

But he wasn't taking a shot at an injured player. It is amazing what some people are trying to read into a five second exchange based on "body language" or "smirks".

Oh well. I just wanted to post the video. If nothing else, I am glad at least you go to see it MusicCityTiger24.

I hope he is back. He is a great kid and a tremendous athlete.

So you're alright with him just shrugging off the news of the injury? No words of encouragement for a young man who many thought had torn his ACL?

It wasn't a direct shot at Watson, but it showed he just doesn't care.

6317forever,

I will respond to your question and give my opinion. But it is evident that you aren't going to agree. Which is fine.

There are about three people talking at the same time. One person says "he tore is ACL" but that is at the same time that others are talking and Spurrier is pretty much talking too. It is also evident that Spurrier is paying attention to a different person than the one that says "he tore his ACL." We don't know how close that person was to the mike or anything.

My point? There is no way to know for certain what Spurrier was even listening to and what he heard. It is a press conference for crying out loud and the whole exchange about Clemson last about 10 seconds.

Would it have been GREAT if he had stopped and said something about Watson? Sure. It would have. But that doesn't mean he was wrong because he didn't.

And at the very least, he in NO WAY took a shot at Watson which is what a lot of Clemson fans are trying to argue.

We know for sure that he heard "Watson got hurt".

Even if he didn't hear the part about the ACL, it seems in bad taste to continue with his potshot after hearing that fact.

Please leave and NEVER come back, begging us to like that ARROGANT, INSENSITIVE , DRUNKARD you like to support! He's doesn't have one shred of COMMON DECENCY and you know it!! You have proven with your sniveling, begging, whining that he is a perfect fit for your fan base! He says the things he does because you desperate coot fans just eat it up! Your fan base LOVES this stuff! Please LEAVE and don't come back!!

I agree that he just doesn't give a d@mn. I hate him just as much as the next man but once I watched the video I realized that it was more than it was made out to be.

Correction, made out to be more than it actually was.

Did anybody expect him to break out in tears over Deshaun's injury? He just repeated what the Coot reported told him. He's not Dabo. He's not going to show care or concern for players on the opposing team but he certainly didn't step on the kid when he was down.

Dude stop being so dramatic...Honestly, if Dylan Thompson broke his leg or arm you wouldn't give a ####...I know I wouldn't...Who the hell cares if the old ball sack didnt offer his condolences on Watson...Its football, not sensitivity class....

He didn't "take a shot" at Deshawn.

He DID refer to Clemson without saying the name. He reminds me of Woody Hayes.

He DID make an offhand remark about Deshawn being hurt without any kind remarks following.

He DID make the point that "we" (S Carolina) are in better shape that "we" were a couple of weeks ago.

Steve Spurrier ONLY cares about his wins/record. He does not care about S Carolina. I base this assessment on his comments about the school in Columbia, SC while Stevie was the head coach at FL.

He only takes a stab at Clemson because he is playing nice with the donors at USCeast. He really only HATES Tennessee. He has just recycled his vitriol towards the Vols now to Clemson.

Clemson. Well, what have we done about in the last five years?? In two weeks we'll see. Tigers have to be absolutely relentless this year in the Valley.
