Sports streaming, or, who watched the Jags on Amazon Prime

last night?
That's the first time I've ever watched a live event on streaming, I guess other than a few times on a computer, if that counts.
It was very frustrating - frequent freezes, blurry picture most of the time. I expect that on a computer but for some reason I thought it would be a lot better on TV.
Is streaming always like that, or was that just a special Amazon experience?
Very happy for Trevor and Travis though.

Special grainy, jumpy throwback effect to 1992. Kind of nostalgic.

It’s not Amazon. It’s your internet speed.

Or a combo of speed and RAM. Spectrum recently, FINALLY

after about ten years, fixed a faulty underground cable somewhere in my neighborhood, and my internet speeds jumped from ~90 to over 300 megabippies. But, on my older computer, even when the internet speed was working well, with only 4GB of RAM, I still had buffering issues at times. Current machine has 16, and no buffering issues unless the internet speed itself is on the fritz. (Which still happens occasionally. It IS still Spectrum, after all.)
Why don't I switch? Because it's all collusion. Whenever I put together a package from AT&T, DISH, DIRECTV, etc, the total cost for all services winds up being within 5 bucks, more, sometimes, than what I pay now with Spectrum. So, I stay with them, let them own the equipment and do the maintenance.

I watched the first half in the living room and the 2nd half in the bedroom. Both TV’s have a fire stick and I didn’t have a single issue streaming.

I streamed it through my Roku Ultra box to my TV. Over the years I've noticed the device that is used to do the streaming to the TV (i.e. Roku, Firestick, native app on the TV etc...) can make a difference. Sometimes when I streamed stuff with a Firestick I would get occasional freezes/blurry pictures. I've never had that problem with my Roku...

I’ll echo Orangewave. Streaming HD quality video streams requires 200 Mbps. If you have other devices connected, e.g., cellphones, laptops, etc. those stream in parallel, and in turn you’ll need that much more internet speed. If you plan to use streaming services for games, you’ll need to make sure you chose an appropriate internet package, probably 400+ Mbps.

No issues on Prime for me. I have internet service of 300 Mbps. When I speed test my service, I usually get a wild range for download speeds but the upload speed is usually around 11.2 Mbps. The carrier said the upload speed needs to be in the high 10.? Mbps to prevent buffering. I'm sure a more savvy IT person can help you more.
I also use an ethernet cable between my router and TV to be more stable. My phone and laptop are wireless.

I didn't have any issues, it may be your band width.

It's your internet. Has zero to do with Amazon prime. I've watched almost every TNF Game since it started and its crystal clear. Never had it buffer once. Have spectrum internet and Orbi 3200 wireless router.

We use Youtube TV for everything, including live sports, and we love it. For whatever reason, Amazon Prime does not work as well. Lots of buffering throughout the game.

Get yourself a mesh system you won’t regret it, been in the field for 15 years and streaming is taking over. People scream about speeds but having adequate WiFi coverage is more important then speeds. If you have a dual band router use your 2.4GHZ band for devices far away for modem and use the 5GHZ band for devices closer

I didn't watch as we don't have prime. However, mostly we don't have issues with streaming thru our firestick. Our problem is with fees and taxes, we pay $111 monthly for only 30 !! I did not leave off a zero, thirty !!
We mostly use peacock, fubo, and netflicks.

Buffering used to be a big problem with most streaming services. I’ve found the improvements in the streaming hardware plus use of a hardwired connection (lan cable to the router) are the biggest reasons our streaming rarely have problems these days. I remember when I first purchased a smart tv, using the tv apps to stream was the worst experience. I quickly moved to Roku boxes and never looked back. Our Xfinity internet plan gets us abound 300 mps regularly.
Streaming via WIFI to our iphones and ipads was greatly improved when I installed an Eero mesh system for the WIFI and disabled the WIFI radio at the Xfinity gateway.
Bottomline: invest in the right hardware and internet speeds and streaming can be comparable to the Satellite and cable experience.

When I first cut the cord, I had issues streaming TV using a Firestick and/or Apple TV. I checked the speed using one of the free online tests and it was terrible. I found out the modem provided by my ISP was seriously outdated. When i called them the provided me a free swap the latest version. The speed increased but not enough, so I updated my wireless router. I also upgraded to the 4K Firestick. Now I can stream on two TVs plus surf on phones plus ipad with zero issues or lag.

Haven't had any issues with Amazon live or regular Prime movies. The occasional hiccup with YouTube TV, but even that is rare. I wonder if Amazon's feed isn't more resource intensive since they're trying to pack so much into it, in terms of video quality, and "slower" speeds - that were totally sufficient for most streaming a year ago - may now be struggling....
