Sounds like Nick Saban is going to still be "involved with the program"

and around the complex. Deboer even commented about daily advice from him during the presser. I'm not sure a lot of coaches would want to have him around and confusion over who is calling the shots or who is in charge. I get it that Nick is the GOAT. But maybe just give Deboer your number and let him call you at the beach when he wants to pick your brain.

He said he was joking with some players telling them he would still be able to jump on their a$$es from his new office. I think this is going to be interesting to watch play out.

Not sure what Saban would be doing, but there's bound to be conflict.

I would thought that Coach Saban would be at his 17 million dollar beach house at Jupiter Florida and be available on a as need basis.

Maybe he will be helping meet and greet recruits and big donors.

He better stay on board for damage control, they are losing players faster than The dirtpeckers did!

I assume that was part of the discussion during contract negotiations so, presumably, Deboer is on board with that.
Nick Saban is 72. He's been working a job that requires attention nearly 24/7 for ~30 years. He is going to stop working until he absolutely has to.

I checked that announcement about Saban and it says his office will be at the stadium, so atleast he shouldn’t be casting a daily shadow on the team within the practice facilities.

Reminds me of when Danny went to Arkansas and old Frank Broyles had a voice in the program. This won't work...look for another Alabama coaching change in two or three years.

Who says it won’t work? We don’t know. We’re just small insignificant opinions lol.

Frank Howard

Remained on the Clemson staff for a long time after his coaching days. This was even after the student body hung and burned a dummy of Frank Howard in effigy over the state of the football program. His son was attending Clemson at that time too. So Frank resigned as the football coach and was given an office within the athletic department.

I wonder if a lot of that was "corporate speak" in trying to keep continuity with recruits, parents, current players, etc.
