Wow, Shaq! Great job in the classroom too! As much as I know it may be viewed as a setback, getting settled in all the non-football stuff will pay off too. Great job making the most out of the situation, and that GPA is something to be proud of. Good luck, and I look forward to watching you play!

a 5 star non-offensive lineman redshirting???....anywhere else and he's a transfer. Especially since another 5 star LB Tre Lamar was getting reps and starter on special teams. But Smith built up that GPA, soaked up knowledge and will contend for a starting spot with 4 more years to play.

I agree. A lesser person or more of a diva would have said "play me or I'm gone!" I am glad he embraced his learning experience and I am sure he will be a better player and person because of it.

I think he is admitting that he is or was more of the diva type but has learned from it. There were comments made by the coaches where you could read a bit into them and learn that initially he wasn't real happy with the redshirt.
I was wondering how this was playing out behind the scenes, because you never know. But I'm glad he's still all in. I also wish they would interview more often the young guys, redshirts, and the scout team guys that will probably never see any significant playing time.

They are nothing alike physically or playstyle. Ben is completely downhill where Shaq has unbelievable sideline to sideline abilities. Shaq is much more similar to Stephone Anthony. Freak athlete. 3-down LB.

I agree. And with Joseph, O'Daniel, and Lamar back in the fall, I think the Tiger line backing group will be very strong. The D should be one of the very best in the country.

This young man has developed into an even more impressive specimen. The extra year really seems to have helped him mature into a great looking prospect who I'd bet will be a stud on this defense. This is gonna be fun to watch!
