DT: Was this the greatest wr catch in clemson history?
Feb 20, 2015, 10:25 AM

|

I know it wasn't a huge situation other than a nail in the coffin in a blow out win against state but I dont think i've ever seen a clemson wr make a more impossible catch than this one. Every time i see this pic i still can't believe he didn't at least bobble it. That was very Dez Bryant-esque.

It was harder for Tajh to put that ball where he did, but Nuk makes that kind of catch all day long.

The catch Peake made from Watson in the Georgia game was similar to the catch Nuk made from Boyd in the Georgia Dome. A blinding side catch, through a tight window.

We actually won the 4th quarter, and did well in overtime... we had them beat. An injured Kyle Parker missed a wide open receiver by about 2 feet which would have won us the game against the eventual undefeated natty champs. A couple plays later, Cat Man kicks the worst kick of his career.

Yes and No...

|

Yes, this catch is probably the best in history in terms of sheer athleticism and actual receiving ability... BUT this catch would probably not be viewed by most fans b/c of the nature of that game. The implications of the catch were essentially nominal... My vote for one of the most incredible/meaningful catches was Nuk in the Chick-fil-a Bowl on 4th and 16. That throw/catch blows my mind... and it meant so much b/c it propelled us to a huge upset win.

Butler and Allen were pretty special. YouTube "Mike Williams Amazing Catch 2014 NC ST game" which I believe was his 2nd(?) TD catch that day. That catch took every inch of his 6'4+" frame. One of the more difficult catches from this past year for sure. Although probably not a top 15, It'd hold a candle to quite a few of the legendary catches in CU history.

Something about this play that was very disappointing was
Feb 20, 2015, 3:44 PM
|
|
the commentary by the announcers. They were too busy hemming and hawing over whether it was a catch or not to even sound excited at the amazing play that had just happened. Go back at watch it. After 2 or 3 minutes of "wellll I don't really see any evidence that would overturn this call...blah blah blah..." they finally said something like "but what great effort by Williams"
Terrible broadcasting in my opinion. I hate when they get too caught up in the technicalities to enjoy the incredible plays that happen in the moment.
That being said, I'd list the Williams catch second only to Jamie Harper's TD against Auburn in 2010. That was incredible

Clemson never beat a matt Ryan lead team to clinch going to the acc championship game. Clemson's first acc championship game was in 2009. Matt Ryan was already in the NFL.

I don't know what I'm missing. He said that Aaron Kelly made a game winning catch to beat Boston college at death valley, while stopping a matt Ryan comeback to secure an acc championship.
When Aaron kelly played against matt ryan and BC at death valley in 2)05, we lost 16-13 in ot. In 2007 when clemson played matt Ryan and BC, we lost 20-17.
So how could Arron kelly make a game winning catch against BC to clinch an acc championship game at death valley?

That's the Aaron Kelly catch I hate remembering. Never been so dejected leaving DV in my life. I'm not remembering Kelly having a game winner vs. BC unfortunately. Please post the link if possible, because as great as he was for us, I remember that....of course! Not fair to a guy like him, but I do.

Gardner catch we needed extra tickets for friends picked up two student section tkt. best friend and I right there in front of catch. Bunch of CU students had Coot girlfriends in stands and they were freezing because it was sleeting that game. The coots ended up wrapped up in our Clemson blankets
