that this year man has been different.
I'm not sure what it is, but it's just seemed harder as a man this year.
Everything is expensive, everything is stressful, everything is just a #####
Any other men feeling that way this year?
Like Christmas is coming up, I'm making more money than I've ever made in my life but yet I'm looking at Christmas going, man my kids aren't getting the 500 things they normally get. Not because we are broke but just because of the uncertainty of this year and going into next year.

I'm old AF and I don't recall life being easy since I was in college or high school. And even then, I prob thought it was stressful at the time.
Work is hard, staying relevant in a career is hard, staying employed is hard, relationships are impossible, families are a PIA, and staying on the right side of the ground is hard. There's about 5 minutes a month that I don't think about walking out my front door, hooking up my boat and never coming back. Sometimes, the fear of living in a cardboard box is the only thing that keeps me around.
A presidential election or adults playing high school style he-said she-said games on the news isn't in even the top 500 of stuff that stresses me.
I'm not real sure of the context cooch is talking about, so maybe that's why this question doesn't make sense to me.

the 18 months I lived on IOP was a mistake, or that I wasted my money, or it was terrible or something.
I guess that's why I never saw the funny in it. I mean holy crap look where he lives. Imagine owning there (especially if its half your MIL's place)? Most folks don't even want to drive through that part of the world.
Jebus..being forced to live there?

Honestly, it's more of a resigned acceptance of things that I thought were, are not.
Bitter pills to swallow. I am also a polarizing guy, as I have come to learn recently. Not necessarily happy about realizing that.

I sleep like a baby. Good relationships with family. Even struggling family members (addiction, relationships, finances) etc are in a better place now.
I've made huge gains in the jim and have gotten my weiner wetter than any other year since I've been sober (even with a woman a few times). I have some close buddies that I enjoy hanging out with. I got some nice hobbies.
But honestly, some days I don't even care, other days I have an insurmountable amount of rage. It all feels very transactional and reactionary. I'm losing my grindset and am just content doing whatever happens and responding.
I mentioned the other day that hitting 36 years of age has kind of taken a tool. I'm just kinda coming to the realization that most of my prime might be coming to an end soon.
Is that true? Should I KMS? Or just get back on the Lexapro?

stacked against that. So I guess it is all downhill from here.
We are in the midst of the incredibly busy time with kids, etc and nothing ever slows down. Feel like life is moving way too fast.
That keeps me up at night. Good sleep would be awesome.

don't KYS. I'm the same age. My prime is long gone but I believe there are good days ahead. There's always hope.
I know you're likely kidding, but I recently dealt with a situation where someone was joking about that, until he wasn't joking anymore.

Physical prime? Sure. Who cares.
We're hitting the uptick of the growth curve of prime earning years. I'm stoked about it.

I think we all tend to forget how effed up the COVID shutdown sh*t was. It will have on-going ripple effects for the rest of our lifetimes.
As one of the people in my office said, "I don't even care about 'back to normal', I just want predictable."
And I agree. The on-going unpredictability has made daily life and planning for the future more challenging.
On the one hand, I think I live more in the moment these days. OTOH, I am not sure how many more sh*tshow disruptions I want to go through.
And just to lay my cards on the table, we are overdue for a real recession and I think it will still happen soon.
Not the end of the world if you know how to adjust, but having to adjust yet again won't be fun.

Lack of sleep and too quick business growth is catching up with me recently. Wife dealing with health issues has made home life more difficult, but also allowed me to bond with kids more.
Just need the new guy to not #### it up so that I can ride off into the sunset at 50. My youngest sent me a meeting invite to retire in June. Booked two week vacation fishing in Keys in June. We'll see if that starts a long sabbatical/retirement.
Hope you can take time off, make new memories and re-charge.

The cost of living is outgrowing my income in leaps and bounds which has required some adjustments but still joy, comfort are unrelated to wealth.
Imo, kids are better off when they don't get everything they want. I've seen times of plenty and hard times come and go. The happiest my family was happened during those time when plenty was absent.
Life is more than what you have, what you buy or what you make.
