Yep. Basically a formality.
How insane would the portal be if everyone in schef's class just got another year. That would completely screw teams that took players early and true freshman that are coming in.

I think its to ensure if they do get another year they have a place to play.
If they dont go in the portal and get an extra year but CBB has his roster full I dont see him kicking off a kid to make room
If they do go in the portal and dont get an extra year then nothing, they drop out of the portal

the best option on technicalities of a ruling that may come back. If they complete the semester/graduate without entering the portal then based on the ruling that comes down then that could be where the line is drawn on saying their eligibility was exhausted. By entering the portal, they are signaling they believe they have another year and they plan to stay in college. Remember, the portal has an April deadline for entry but exit is open-ended and can go throughout the summer - heck maybe longer so it could potentially buy time based on when the ruling comes down and the specifics of the rules put in place to implement the ruling. It’s one of those things where it can’t hurt to do it but you could be hurt if yo don’t do it. Smart move.

Exactly. Sounds like they are entering so if they get another year, they can go play somewhere else because Clemson will not have room to take them back and Brad doesn’t want to hold spots.
