Nah. We like coaches who were head coaches and got a big buy out and still want to work so took a job (PSU) until he got something he really wanted (Clemson).

To be fair, just because someone isn’t a successful head coach does not make them a bad coordinator, we just hired one.

UGA actively looking for a replacement, the board is worried now that other schools are paying players too!
Will a more level Playing field take UgA back to where they were before competitive but not a top dog!
Their run might be over according to the forum.

There is a business side to college football and the players which are the ones who fill the seats should be able to at a minimum make money off of their own name not just because it makes sense but because it is their right as an adult in America. NIL never should have been a discussion. Preventing someone from profiting on their own name is unconstitutional and I'm surprised at some of you who claim to be patriots complaining about it.

Dang do we have to get into this discussion on a daily basis. NIL is great, unfortunately that’s not what is going on. Please re read the other 2500 threads on this subject, or better yet hook up with Bluffton. He knows everything.

I understand a player making money off of an autograph, or name on the back of a shirt but lets face it that is not what is happening with nil. We all know that most of the players are just being paid to play football and nothing other than football is being asked of them for the millions they make.

a little more faith and signed him up for longer than a single season. I suspect he will get a multi-year deal from us up front. When Dabo signs a kid he is committing to seeing them through to the end, as long as it takes to graduate and matriculate through. Outside of disciplinary actions he honors that. If the game moves to contracts for players, Dabo is just as likely to max those out for the full term.

See the problem with the players jumping around is that I want complete loyalty due to the fact that I don't want to waste my time in the Fall without having a great team. Therefore, I oppose the players jumping around, unless it benefits Clemson.

penalties involved. Pro athletes have contracts involved as well. You can't just jump around whenever you want. If you are going to be paid there have to be rules in place to protect the integrity of the game. If this is the way we are going then regulations must take place.

Student athletes have been transferring for decades. The problem is, it's now totally unregulated and that is what people dislike.
The NCAA needs to go back to the old format. Everyone gets 5 years to play 5 (as opposed to the former 5 years to play 4). If you transfer, for whatever reason, you sit out a year before being eligible to play PERIOD END OF DISCUSSION, and that eliminates one of your five years. Dispensations for another year due to a medical hardship could still be granted, but all of this other garbage (e.g., my grandma is sick and I need to be near her, someone called me a name and it hurt my feelings, or whatever other nonsense these kids come-up with) are no bueno! You transfer, you sit a year! It's simple and it's fair for EVERYONE. You want to transfer because some other program offered more money, have at it, but you will sit a year before being eligible to play, and that year you sit counts against your total 5. That alone would put an end to a lot of the BS!

Coaches are free to move as long as they fullfill the contractual requirements...
Seems like this was a better situation than Penn State ....

Agree. Clemson (and their fans) like coaches who stay at Clemson for multiple years. It's hard to think of any coaches who have been here only one year.

Grown up man in his career job versus a student. Come on, surely you see the difference. On top of that, if the coach voluntarily leaves, he must pay a buyout.
For the record, Inhave no problem with a student-athlete transferring. I do think there has to be some more stringent guidelines.

The relationship is not coach-student.
It’s coach-player.
If the player is just a student, pay the coach like a professor.

Apples and oranges. Do players have buy outs? are players employees of the school? I’m at the point that players should just go ahead and get paid and be employees and have to sign contracts just like NFL. Can’t jump around in the NFL until contract is up or until the team releases you.

Who exactly are you talking to? Coaches sign contracts, and most of the time the receiving school pays big $ to release the coach from the contract. I wonder how soon that will happen with players transferring.
And we don't have hundreds of coaches changing jobs every year.
