he'll start at either C or PF, and likely play both at times. His game seems alot like PJ, which is a good fit for us. Right now we have two sure starters, Dillon and Davidson. We have Buckner and top 100 recruit Foster also in the backcourt, and 4 star Dallas Thomas and two 3 star PF's in Thompson and Steinour also coming into the front court. What are the other needs?
Shooters! Whether at G or wing, we definitely need at least a couple of guys who are proven shooters, maybe 3. Need a starting PF or C, as I don't see a freshman there. Need a banger down low. Another backup big likely. With Davidson's brother also tagging along, still have 7 scholarships available. I don't think we fill them all. But 5 more from the portal, at least 2 more starter quality and then bench guys who can contribute and have the chance to compete for a starting position, especially on the wing with Thomas.
Long way to go, but nice to see a major piece fall into place today

Thompson is actually a 4 star per Rivals.
Carter Welling was on the same visit as Davidson so he might be an option at the other 4 or 5. You know recruiting is involved of Coach Brownell's High Low double two bigs inside. This past season Shieff and Vik and last year PJ and Shieff.
There are some other bigs that are on their radar. I think then maybe Godfrey and another big as back ups possibly.
Then also start working on backcourt mate to go with Dillon. Plenty on the list. Heard that George from Ga Tech and Lowe for Pitt could be on their ACC radar from the past two years experience with Girard and Zachery.
Will be exciting to keep up with.

very doubtful he comes in and starts. Welling seems to be the top target to pair with Davidson for now. RJ? Don't know. Is he finally resigned to being a backup who gets plenty of minutes? He's out of position at C. Honestly, if we're bringing someone back, Middlebrooks would be the better fit.
We need more than just one guard/wing. If we bring in George, does that mean Dillon at 2? He's improved his shooting but not exactly the knockdown 3 shooter we need there. We absolutely need guys who can hit the 3 so our high/low game doesn't get suffocated. That's why it wouldn't surprise me if the kid from Wofford (Travelers Rest) winds up coming aboard as a reserve G. We won't count on 2 freshmen as our only backups, same for the front court.

I personally liked Reeves athleticism, but he's still a project.
Wiggins has no position.
Heidbrieder showed some flashes, but probably wants to start somewhere.
Asa Thomas?
I'd rather some of the 5 freshmen play over any of those guys, let alone whoever else we bring in

considering our top 25 recruiting class last year. Our upgrade in talent has some of the other guys seeing the writing on the wall. They want to play, and we couldn't guarantee that and in some cases even felt that guys would be better served elsewhere.

After watching much of the tournament, we need to be more athletic. In the past, a lot of the very athletic kids couldn't score but that has changed.

Why I think Dallas Thomas will get every opportunity at 3. He's unproven and unknown at this point, but he's a former top 100 recruit with electric athleticism.

Paul Strelow from TI was on Wccp fm this morning confirmed that the staff's hope was to land Welling to pair with Davidson which they both were on the same visit last weekend. Welling visited Ole Miss to get a better gage to compare Clemson too similar to Davidson visiting UVa after Clemson.
He expects that decision to be done anytime from now.

I keep hearing Welling is probable and Bobby Durkin, shooter from Davidson is close to a decision.
I've seen Lowe from Pitt mentioned. A great offensive player but seems like a polar opposite as far as fit. Plays very little defense.

From everything I’ve read you basically have to assume Godfrey is returning. So that’s interesting to consider the impact. Does Davidson become the #5 or do they shift Godfrey and Davidson back and forth depending on foul trouble and/or matchups? If Clemson finds a true #5 starter then Godfrey is back to 6th man, right?

Hope it’s a good start.
But he has never played for us.
I follow college basketball, and had never heard of him.
So all we really know is that he had some decent stats with another team and then quit.
We’ll see.
