I think we can all agree that feelings are much more important than such sterile, unforgiving things as objective expectations, performance metrics, etc.
I’m just asking the question in curiosity - is this team suffering from hurt feelings at the hands of a coaching staff whose demands are too exacting and unreasonable? You better believe recruits are keeping a close watch on the environments in which they will be most affirmed and encouraged to feel the best about themselves no matter what anybody else thinks or expects.

Coaching takes many forms. I suspect the other players felt Pace made a dumb error and likely deserved his beating. Conversely when he had a great play he received praise. Meritocracy is a very effective culture.

The media isn’t telling you meritocracy is a racist system. White people getting the benefit of the doubt when it comes to cops and courts, housing, admission to college, admission to private golf clubs, restaurants, etc., etc., etc., is not meritricious—it’s racist.

Sorry, meretricious is not the right word. “Not an example of a meritocracy” would be what I was aiming at.

If you own a Private Golf Club, restaurant, etc. , doesn’t the owner have a right to say who is allowed in. Kind of like saying who is allowed in your house, right?
For instance, if you own a restaurant and say those who enter must be vaccinated, isn’t that the owners right?
Rather you like it or have your feelings hurt by it really doesn’t matter. Imagine there was a private company that offered college scholarships for colored folk only , would you boycott that company?

I played for Coach Ibrahim...

and I can tell you, he absolutely did not mind chewing your a$$ out in front of a stadium full of people.
Riggs Field is a much more intimate setting than Death Valley so literally EVERYONE can hear.
Based on direct first hand experience, what Dabo did to Pace was very benign in comparison.

There are bad eggs everywhere, but I guarantee most players would say that he loves and genuinely cares about each individual player. They may not realize it until after they have graduated, but this is a silly question.

Dabo would hold his coaching staff accountable, Clemson wouldn't find itself in its current position.

I don’t like LSU or Coach O but .. after their loss to Auburn he did say - “It’s on me, I’m accountable for our poor performance and for us getting better”.
He did not blame the players, their poor execution (isn’t that coaching) or deflect blame to others. Our coaching staff needs a boot up their a$$ and not call it what everyone can see it has been. It does stink, he’s not brilliant and hopefully Dabo has the courage to change things up (out) with those struggling to either coach and/or develop our players.

Football is a tuff culture. Tradition is a lot of yelling (in the case of some like Krzyzewski it is more cussing than ~~).
Kids by college level are used to that even if the general public is not.
I personally believe in taking one aside to kick ###, but that is just me. Some are best at coaching by just reacting in the moment. You do what works for you and improve on that. I doubt if Pace or others have a bad reaction to coaches they know 100% have their back.

player that doesn't respect his coach and his coach's challenge to make you a better player. Dabo was all over Pace after a mistake against BC, but Dabo was hugging him and encouraging him a quarter later.
If you have ever played a team sport, the willingness to get your butt chewed comes with the territory. What also comes with a team sport is the knowledge you are all working together to be the best TEAM you can be!.
