So far, the shooter fits a common profile...

Young white male, mostly a loner, was bullied some, ate lunch by himself, was extremely interested in guns, and was seen as very smart by his schoolmates.

Then, we have the fact that he registered as a Republican in 2022, but gave a whopping $15 to a blue voter turnout group back in 2021 (when he was still in high school).

And authorities haven't yet been able to find anything about his motives from online activity (emphasis on yet), and they're trying to get into his phone.

So far, this smells like a classic case of "young guy loner with guns" syndrome.

Now, I don't know for sure, but I'll make another bold prediction. The shooter was mentally ill.

I think the question before us is "why?"....

And that's still to be determined. When Dave DePape tried to bash Paul Pelosi's skull in, we found out the "why". When James Hodgkinson tried to murder Republican Senators, we found out the "why". When Jared Loughner tried to murder Gabby Giffords, we found out the "why".

There still isn't a known "why" in this one.

Shooters in today's world often leave a "manifesto". Some of them leave a long internet trail on hate websites like 4Chan or 8Chan. Was this guy involved with Antifa or something like that? There would seem to be an info trail somehow.

Find out what this guy was reading or writing, and we'll probably find a likely motive.

It almost seems like it's pushback at this point from some folks I've seen on the Internet and in the media. Like that's the last thing the guy could be thinking. 'He wanted to stop Donald Trump from being President because he thought Trump was a fascist' is way down on the list of possibilities. I mean, "HE WAS A REGISTERED REPUBLICAN."

Now, I'm not in the guy's head, so I don't really know. But, I don't think he wanted Trump to become President. Maybe he just didn't like orange hair.

When someone gets their skull intentionally fractured by a hammer, and needs months/years to recover, that's a tad bit more serious than a hemorrhoid surgery. Dont'cha think?

Look, you're making the argument that words matter. That what people say about Trump matters. That the environment that we're in matters. Well, part of that environment is people making fun of and mocking victims of attempted political murder...

And I'm sorry for calling you an "effin' nutjob". I don't actually think you're crazy. But your joke about hemorrhoids was completely off the mark at best.

And for the record, I do not and have never thought that Trump is Hitler. I do think he's an authoritarian, and he is a threat to our Democracy. However, the way to defeat him is at the ballot box, not with bullets.

Where is "somewhere"? One of his classmates said on the record that he was "definitely conservative".

He definitely was conservative,” Max R. Smith told The Philadelphia Inquirer of Thomas Crooks. “It makes me wonder why he would carry out an assassination attempt on the conservative candidate.” Smith shared an American history class with Crooks, and remembered a mock debate where their teacher made students stand on one side of the classroom or another to signal their allegiance. “The majority of the class were on the liberal side, but Tom, no matter what, always stood his ground on the conservative side,” Smith said.
