Per social media geniuses it’s now a packaged deal of FSU/UNC. So does that mean we are SEC bound or stuck in ACC purgatory forever?!?!?

Why UNC over Clemson? Don't they want the Clemson national brand and state of SC?

UNC has AAU membership. But, I don't think anything we hear outside of official announcements can be taken for anything more than speculation.

They want the North Carolina TV market. Plus UNC is probably a bigger national brand. You can’t think of football success as the determining factor. It means little.

As much as we hate to admit it UNC is in a stronger position. They are a national brand. They also have a LOT of money and access to even more money. Ever heard of Air Jordan? Other than not doing football in long time, they have a lot of success in a lot of other sports. Second biggest sport - Basketball and a bunch of others

Horrible analysis.
You mention success in other sports. Those sports don’t make money.
A potential move by UNC to big ten is not based on how much money UNC has (air Jordan) or how much second tier sports generate. It’s based on how much revenue football can generate. Period.

And Men’s Basketball is a distant afterthought. Other sports are irrelevant.
There is a reason Stanford…perennial winner of the Director’s Cup, one of the finest academic institutions in the world and in the heart of Silicon Valley…was not selected by the Big Ten.

Really? Football is the driving force behind all of the realignment. It pays the bills for the many non-revenue sports and is second only to the NFL in TV and streaming ratings.

Neither is Nebraska. Oregon is but not sure how they are AAU or how much longer they'll be in it. Oregon doesn't have medical school and unbelievably don't even have a college of engineering.
AAU is a crock anyways.

Lived in Eugene for about 4 years nack in the 90's. Don't know if they are still "big" on it or not but a good friend of mine talked about their physics and genetics program. Granted, we were in 6th grade and he also wanted to be the first person to create a real-life Mr. Data (Star Trek, for you non-nerds)

I think this might actually help Clemson with the SEC because they will most likely want to counter what the Big 10 has done. I'm also wondering if we already told the Big 10 we were going to the SEC so they moved on to UNC to package with FSU.

Whether you like it or not, I don't think hanging out in the ACC is an option the administration wants to consider any longer than they have to. Change is coming and if the Big 10 door is really closed, the SEC would be the only other option that makes financial sense.

I doubt 1 year where we still could finish 9 - 4 would keep Clemson for the SEC or the Big 10. As another poster stated Clemson has more value than just wins and losses. We have some of if not the greatest fans in college football.
The fact that so much new construction is going on around the University could be a hint that we are moving to a new conference. And the student body has consistently increased. This year Clemson received the most application ever. I believe it’s approximately around 28,000 plus new applicants this year.
I posted about 4 or 5 years ago that college football was headed to 2 to 3 super conferences. Those schools left out of the super conferences would fall into smaller FBS conferences. Then there will be the all the smaller schools who make up at FCS schools.
I believe that in 3 to 5 years, Clemson’s DV will increase to over 90 plus thousand seats.

Of all the ACC schools, Clemson is the top get for any conference. I'm not saying the B1G wants Clemson but outside of Ohio State and I guess Michigan, who wants to watch a B1G game? Northwestern vs Rutgers? Indiana vs. Illinois? Kudo's to them for hoodwinking networks for the big money but its quickly becoming a rusty old conference. They'd be smart to add Clemson.

All of the social media rumormongering is just that to me until official announcements are made, And as far as I'm concerned, traveling to Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, etc. in the late fall and early winter for ball games doesn't ring my bell.
Lastly, wait until Ohio State or Michigan fans get a taste of the wine and cheese crowd from UNC or travel to Chapel Hill to see a game in a stadium one third the size of Big Blue's. lol

Why would we want the Big in the first place? All away games are difficult to get to. Only real rivalry is Ohio. I hate the SEC but just makes more sense to go there.
