If forced to bet on a SMU/Bama bowl game, I think most of us would bet (if possible) straight up on Alabama.
And probably the Coots and Ole Miss would beat SMU, but I don't have a solution to that dilemma.
One of the main reasons we like March Madness is that some nobody teams get a shot. I hope the CFP selection process will continue to allow for one or two nobody teams to have a legit shot at the CFP. Otherwise it will just be a blue blood playoff and after awhile that won't be much fun to watch.

I think you are letting bamas past tell you that… this isn’t the same bama team and if you watched any of their games you would know that… by far the weakest defense they have had in a very long time . Smu would def move the ball on them. Losing to vandy could be called a fluke it happens to a lot of good teams… following that up with getting dominated by a bad OU team and letting auburn hang around tells you all you need to know , you slow down milroe they are very beatable which they proved this year. I would prob bet on smu to be honest they are very good and ppl are discrediting them bc we beat them ? Believe it or not Clemson has a pretty talented roster just haven’t played a complete game and sat was close but just didn’t finish when we had the chances to put it away.

We beat them but I am not sure that we were the better team if I am being honest. Definitely not better coaching. I think they played their C game, but we did as well.

There is no dilemma, only whiney fans/coaches who did not get in. All of those fans who would bet on Bama over SMU had already lost all of their money betting on Bama over Vandy and OU. One of the few good thing about a 12 team playoff is it gives more conferences an opportunity. If Bama wanted to get in the playoffs, they should have shown up in Norman and Nashville.

Bama took on a higher “degree of difficulty” but they couldn’t land it. If Bama was a 2-loss team there would be no SMU argument. Bama went for it, but didn’t get it done. A tough schedule is tough because it’s hard to win. But if losses get excused it becomes the easiest schedule possible.

I think the committee was forced to pick SMU because they didn’t want to penalize them for losing a conference championship game, since they would have been in if they didn’t have to play that extra game
We screwed Bama with that 56 yard FG.

Bama should have not lost so badly to Vandy and Oklahoma if they wanted to make the playoffs. They controlled their own destiny ... and failed.
