Simple question; why not name Pearman the starter

going into fall camp? It does not mean he will start against Georgia but rewards great effort in the spring game. It also may light a fire under Cade and Vizz this summer, then let the chip fall where they may.

what you suggest, almost certainly we'd go into fall camp with a shortage of quarterbacks.

I agree 100%. Stop worrying about hurting someone's feelings and put the best player on the field. Cade has shown nothing since he stepped on the field at Clemson. Time to find a leader that can help bring Clemson back to a championship level team.

The best player used to be the starter .. now, it’s about maintaining the bullpen ..amid the fear of those not starting, hitting the transfer portal.

If they put up a depth chart right now with Klubnik 2nd string and Vizz 3rd string, we would be losing 2 QBs to the spring transfer portal.

Bottom line. You want your best QB to get the most snaps and only the #1 QB gets the most snaps.
That does not mean that Pearman is not the best QB (LT) but to make that call now and put all your money on the Freshman walk on … against Georgia … will get Dabo fired quicker than anything … too big of a gamble that will result in losing the farm.

Remember the spring “practice” is about putting players in situations to learn and develop. If o was a college OC or HC, I would put my youngster in a situation to build confidence by succeeding and my experienced QB in situations learn “hard” lessons.

Well, it’s because Pearman is not even close to the best QB. Just because he had a decent showing against his buddies in death valley doesn’t mean that he is Starting quarterback material there’s a lot more to the job than meets the eye. If you remember, cade look great behind DJ and everyone was calling for him to start.

Because Dabo and Riley see these guys every day in practice and won't make their decision based on 1 scrimmage (the Spring game). It's pretty naive to base a decision on who's going to QB against one of the best teams in the country based on 1 scrimmage. The good news is that our QB room is solid with Pearman's emergence. And don't forget everyone last year was saying Dabo was just showing favoritism in taking these Daniel guys and couldn't judge talent. In addition to Pearman, did you see Lawson in the Spring game? I don't know why keyboard warriors think they no more than a top 5 college coach in the country.
