Should XT start on Sat ?

If Venables can rattle the NCSU QB early with speed rush, the game's outcome could be settled quickly.

get about 50% of the snaps for the game. He's our best pass rusher by far.

He won't and probably *shouldn't* start, but you can guarantee that he's going to get a lot of time in the game on a lot of passing downs. I'd pay a nice sum to see him hit Finley like he did Dungey.

Opponents think that when XT comes in, that they're going to get a lesser guy to play against. They are usually tired at this point, and as he blows by them and slams the QB, they know that they are defeated. Mentally, they realize that even the CLEMSON subs are better than they are, so they are crushed.
I like it the way CBV does it, even though XT deserves to start sometimes.

It’s best for him to come in as fresh legs against a worn down o line. That speed kills!

No. What makes XT so effective is that he plays when the OLine is tired. His speed is not manageable at that point. XT will get significant play time, but you want to start the game without mental errors which often comes from inexperience.

No way a true freshman takes a starting job from a senior on this team.
