While I was never a huge fan of DJU and a lot of my TD's came from not singing his praises. I never felt like he was humble enough to be a Clemson fan favorite but I don't want players to fail especially if they had reasonable efforts for Clemson. I can say that once they leave Clemson especially as an opponent, I guarantee I am wish for an extraordinarily bad day when we play.
That said, if there was any question that he wouldn't be starter at FSU as a 5th yr starter, then he should surely take up baseball practice straight after this football season.

Me either...... I think DJ's issue with the fans began with his "Look at me" choice of clothes, chain necklace and the big "Cinco" - then increased as his mistakes and indecision on the field multiplied.

For me this is an accurate take. He never looked comfortable in front of the media fielding questions. I also think the negative social media shots taken by his Dad is what created the most angst. You can also factor in his parent’s divorce, and perhaps how much that impacted his play that first year as the starter.

DJ's issues began when he threw it in the dirt for 5 yards, or 10 ft above

a wide open receiver, or couldn't read a defense and tried to run with those concrete filled shoes. Nah, no one cared about his clothes.
Everyone cared for the 8 for 29 against the coots in the Valley, or that pitiful ACCCG start.
But his Dad didn't help either.

Really? More humble than Cade? More humble than Clelin, Austin Bryant, Renfrow, TL, ETN, Ellington, Gallman, Spiller, Etc, just to cover a few years? You are crazy! He would comb his hair during interviews while sucking a shake instead of explaining how the team played or didn't play. His interviews his last year sucked!
He probably got encouraged by Big Dave to be just like him, Humble Pie!

Never said behavior? He was a good kid overall but was not humble. He wasn't obnoxious, or bad kid, but he wasnt my definition of humble like most Clemson guys. When he was interviewed after being benched half a game (forget which game), but we came back and won, he was asked if he learned anything while benched and his response was, "No not really, I already knew all the plays and didn't learn anything!".
If that is humble then you are definitely using a different definition than my understanding. Maybe you guys didn't watch every post game interview like I did?

The biggest reason he chose to play at Oregon State and then at FSU...

was because he knew there would be very little competition for the starting job.
Interestingly, the difference between the stats he compiled at Oregon State compared to his two years as the Clemson starter are negligible. The most glaring difference is while his win/loss record as a two year starter at Clemson was 10-3 and 10-2 respectively, he was a middling 8-4 at Orgon State. His average pass completion yardage did improve from 6.8 to 8.4 yards which further supports that he continued to struggle throwing the ball down field consistently. Fewer passing attempts at OSU but slightly more yardage (against arguably weaker defenses). Over his last two seasons, his TDs and INTs were almost identical.

His completion percentage went down by around 4pts. Like 61%-57% completions, or close to those numbers.

His completion percentage went from 62.1% his last year at Clemson to 57.1% while at Oregon State.
Ultimately, you are what your statistics say you are. DJ is not a bad QB, but he's certainly not elite either.

Clemson lost to Miami last year and to their backup QB who wouldn't have started

for Elon. Clemson has to play up to standard every game and quit with the dumb catastrophic mistakes.. Thats the key to the season. DJU or whoever makes no difference.

I want us to beat FSU like a drum, but I got no hard feelings about his time at Clemson at all. Things didn't work out the way we all wanted on the field as often as we expected, but DJ was pretty low-key, humble, and deferential.

WHAT..DJ 8 of 29 vs Coots in DV & 1 pt loss!

Yep, that stat got to me as well as Dabo playing that fact too close to the vest in 4th quarter and not subbing with Cade as he did next game which overwhelmed UNC "staff" & team thus a Tiger win.
Subbing Cade might have been the decision that might have prevented that sad day in DV where Coots broke 2 national records that Tiger Team had earned..longest home winning streak in nation (about 6 yrs ?) not losing at home and longest winning streak in nation overall.
