Clemson extends coveted QB offer to 5-star Manning
Clemson extended its first QB offer for the 2023 class -- and it’s quite the familiar name. Five-star Arch Manning (New Orleans), grandson of Hall of Famer Archie Manning and nephew of more recent NFL standouts Eli and Peyton Manning, picked up the Tigers offer on Saturday after impressing during a Read Update » |

It has been known for years that Dabo is one of the best recruiters at finishing with recruits, and their family. I would have loved to have been invisible when the Manning's met in a room at Dabo's house when the conversation was being had about young Arch coming to Clemson for his journey at the college level of FB. With that taking place at Dabo's house, and with the Manning's getting the grand tour of all that Clemson has to offer young Arch Manning at Clemson, I would place my bet on Dabo's ability to land this kid at Clemson.
I remember with the recruitment of Trevor to Clemson, not many thought that we/Dabo had a chance at getting Trevor to sign with Clemson after he watched QB Kelly Bryant led us to the NCG 2017. But as we all know, Trevor stuck to his commitment, and signed with Clemson. He stayed pretty quiet with doing what was ask of him to do, and he took the starting job from senior QB Kelly Bryant after a few games, and won the NCG in 2018. So I would never say that we don't have an equal chance to land Arch Manning with Dabo handling his recruit for Clemson. If we/Clemson don't land him with Dabo handling his recruitment, I will be shocked, honestly!!!! If we don't land Arch, it could probably mean that he was afraid of the competition that will be ahead him at Clemson. Trevor showed no fear, or concern about who was ahead of him when he signed on the dotted line...
Trevor will always be the QB that showed Bama they could be knocked off their high horse bc, he run the Bama defense in the ground where not even supper coach Nick Saban could find the answers to slow Trevor down!!!
But here's to hoping that Dabo sealed the deal Saturday night to bring Arch Manning to Clemson in 2023!!!
Go Dabo, Go Tigersss!!!!

I’m sorry. Your statement that Manning might avoid the ACC because it is tough is ONE RIDICULOUS STATEMENT. I hope he never gets wind of it. That might be enough to drive him elsewhere. He will be a star wherever he goes; SEC, Big 10, ACC, you name it. We Clemson fans would LOVE to have him join the family, Bro.

I think we're going to be hard to beat here... and Texas feels like a darkhorse, mostly because of Sark.

I assume he is being told he is our only QB offer for now. I’m sure our second and third guys on the board are being told that we are extremely interested and please be patient. But this will probably be our only QB offer until he decides to make a decision. I would imagine the only way that changes is if he goes into his senior year and plans to put that off till after the season. I doubt we would wait that long to extend a second offer to cover our ### as well as to put a little pressure on Manning. But for now this will be our only offer and that won’t change anytime soon. But of course some interesting conversations behind the scenes with other families.
Does anyone remember if we ever offered a second QB when we were recruiting Watson or Trevor?
I think that’s part of why Dabo does so well getting these big-time players because he shows them they are a priority by making them the only offer at that position for a certain window of time. But obviously at some point we need to put out a second offer if for no other reason than to put a little pressure on the top guy. Like hey, if you wanna come to Clemson you better commit now because we’re about to offer some other people and they would love to be at Clemson!
Kids know an offer from Clemson is a big deal because we are stingy with our offers.,We make it a little harder on ourselves because of the character of kids we go after, but that’s also part of our success because it’s such a big part of the culture.
At this point we are getting most of the kids we go after. But our recruiting classes will probably never consistently be in the top three because we will take a four-star kid over a five star because of character. . But I think for the most part our only serious competition for most recruits is Alabama, Ohio State, and Georgia.
At DL and QB we are becoming a monster. Georgia is always going to be the place the best RBs covet and Oklahoma, Bama, and OSU are going to be our top competition for WRs. Sometimes Georgia.
I think the recruiting of Manning is going to be a three horse race between Clemson, Bama, and Georgia.
I don’t see him leaving the south for a plethora of reasons and while Mississippi and Tennessee would normally be obvious places of interest I don’t see the Manning family liking those options currently.
If they make this a strictly football decision it’s gonna be a tight three school competition. But if they value culture and education Clemson is going to be hard to beat.

Bottom line, I'm glad we got a visit, they spent the evening with Dabo and family and back at camp the next day. That's all we could ask. Our Tigers are in actual contention for his services and it's a good look for us.
